William Cody Watson - Patriot [Lime Lodge]
āLime Lodge is pleased to release an unmistakeable voice in the American noise underground. āSalvaged from the rubble of his deceased laptop are two deeply intimate, glacial compositions. āA double dose of Watsonās invincible melancholy. āNever repeating himself, each crumbling swell and movement carries his arresting and oblique narrative forward. āGenerously, he offers his brutal revelations.āĀ

Lime Lodge
āA new record label run by Angelo Harmsworth, Lime Lodge just recently released three vastly different records including one by Harmsworth himself. Not familiar with his work, I might not have even thought to check it out if it werenāt for the Torturing Nurse LP that comes as part of this first batch of the labelās releases.ā

Angelo Harmsworth - Cerrillos DiscoĀ
āA rather lovely collection of droning electronics. The record has a deep sense of undulating seas, though it doesnāt necessarily sound like field recordings of waves were definitely used. Harmsworth has tremendous attention to detail and control over feedback and dynamics, and the resulting sound-world feels like an exercise in equilibrium. This album would be rather appropriate on labels such as 12k, Room 40, and White Paddy Mountain.
Christian Michael Filardo - Justice
āChristian Filardo runs the Holy Page label which has also released music from Angelo Harmsworth. JusticeĀ is an odd record filled with 8-bit sounding blips and bloops (still trying to find a better term for that) but which is a bit sparse and reminds me of Stockhausenās Kontakte. It has a bit more in common, however, with recent glitch sound art from the likes of James Hoff and Yasunao Tone. The sound palette is fixed and unchanging yet Filardo impressively avoids letting material repeat itself.ā
Torturing Nurse - Collapse / Ikiru
āItās impossible to understate how brutal the Shanghai-based project Torturing Nurse continues to be. Perhaps itās a simple issue of mastering, but both tracks here feel like the most aggressive and abrasive sounds possible, with full saturation and not a single relaxed muscle in its metaphorical body. Iāve unfortunately never had the chance to see them live (not sure if they even play outside of China), but I imagine itās an equally savage experience, especially given that opening trackĀ āCollapseā sound like itās at least a partially live recording. Second trackĀ āIkiruā also sound like it might be live footage of a mass torture experiment.ā

Blistering harsh noise on this Torturing Nurse track. There is a lot going on but not a lot to speak on other than Iām reminded of Kevin Drummās 2004 guitar-noise tape, Impish Tyrant at first.Ā For all of the harsh noise elitists this is one track that will leave you satisfied albeit probably deaf and by that, I mean it in the best sense of the word.Ā
Torturing Nurse | Lime Lodge
With āFever IIā Angelo Harmsworth creates night time music for the most ephemeral moments. On the second piece from his latest albumĀ āCerrillos Discoā, waves of subtle harmonies give way to washes of white noise and further dissipate into nothing only to be recycled for the rest of the trackās length. There is no outspoken message with āFever IIā, there is nothing to be said other than to let yourself be gripped by its arresting and meditative movements.
