A young girl in a world of glitter and flashing lights, unaware of the insatiable darkness beneath her “McDreamy’s” WASP-like facade. “You’re just a young girl, barely twenty-three. I should have let you enjoy that. But,” he bites his lip, timid yet unapologetic. “But when you looked at me, you didn’t smile because my last name was Blackwell or because they call me ‘Doctor.’ You didn’t laugh because of the zeroes in my bank account, or because there’s a skyscraper on Wall Street named after me. Night one. She’d made it through the worst of it so far, though remnants of sorrow were clear in the flecks of her eyes. In her heart was the knowledge that the storm wasn’t over by any means. Stepping out into the world for the first time since her arrival, she could practically hear her father’s voice reminding her a Hearst never coward away. “Sorry, dad.” Her return was inevitable, though not entirely closed for postponement. She needed time before facing her new reality head on, her friend’s neighborhood in Brooklyn could give her just that. Putting on a smile for familiar faces as she entered Genesis, the brunette already felt a comfort in knowing they hadn’t ever been ones to pry. However, the feeling didn’t last as her eyes met the one person she was even less prepared to see than Sebastien. “Leaving so soon, Sinclair?” With one of Abel’s guys calling out, Emilie could only hope Lily’s gaze would divert long enough for her to disappear.
