#lilith opens

She was just putting the last minute adjustments to her outfit when she could hear her bedroom door open.  Tonight was yet another dinner event for her father and since Theo had managed to secure an excuse not to attend, her brother had left her to be expected to be there. It was unfair and yet she had accepted it without a fuss. It would not do to argue with her parents when she wasn't the heir.  At first, she thought it was her mother, but when they didn’t speak up, Lilith turned around to see who was standing there.  “What are you doing here?  I wasn’t expecting to see you until tonight at the party.”  She was surprised, but not upset about the intrusion.

This wasn’t the time for this.  There was an entire room filled with people just down the stairs who were here to celebrate an event that she had put on. The sounds of the musicians was filtering through under the crack in the door and she knew that it meant she was due downstairs any minute now.  Lilith didn’t want to be here dealing with this. “What do you want from me?” she looked up at them with sad eyes, not enjoying the moment any more than they were. Blissful ignorance had suited her just fine up until now. Anything they said could have been left unsaid.
