#like... not really

they're literally not going to shut up, cause they'll project onto Rachel and we'll live through that, and suddenly hear so much about how perachel deserves more rights (which isn't incorrect), and people say annabeth is too annoying (which she was beforehand, but now it's intensified), the way woc in tv normally are. and people always forget like, the reaction to grover being black in the movies, and there a bunch of people who went "but he's... white?" when he wasn't described as so in the books. for a lot of people, blonde = caucasian, when there are lots of poc out there with lighter hair, and lots of kids can dye/bleach their hair, especially someone like annabeth, who was on the run, and might've dyed her hair with thalia to conceal their identities.... or not lol, she's a natural blonde

pjo has literal racists tho lol, and it's seen when you dig through the depths of frank and piper. while not pjo, I think about the reactions to Starfire and Iris West being black in Titans and The Flash respectively, despite the fact that 1, Starfire is a fucking orange alien with lava hair (which brought up nasty racists who said a Latina should play her then 😒), and 2, there is a black Iris in the comics. both actresses were treated like trash and sent nasty shit. I really wish I could have faith in pjo fandom to not send such crap to whoever plays Annabeth, but the past few months have shown that pjo is absolutely vile so... who knows

additionally, a lot of annabeth is like, wholly a privileged white girl, and it just won't translate well otherwise. a lot of people reading it look back and can't imagine her not being white cause she mirrors so many white girls out there... personally i really do like desi annabeth, and seeing a woc who is so important to the plot and being the main love interest in an adventure series would be so amazing!!!! but like, annabeth is just so white and irritating that it's hard to picture a woc playing her, who will garner a positive response
