With people finally admitting the allegory for Will I'd like to take this moment to shout-out the time I responded to a dumbass comment on Instagram about it with
"Well, Will Byers wasn't written to represent irl possession survivors"

Parents
that's it. im gonna fucking say that idc how 'in character' you think it is, but for child heroes, who had certain issues with how their parents raised them or went on life-changing missions with people, it makes absolutely NO SENSE for them not to be involved parents. idc it doesn't make any fucking sense. I'm so so soooo tired of seeing it over and over and over again, the same trope of negligent parents out of the heroes that we watched value friends over and over and over again; fight their way through waves and waves of enemies just to ensure that someone they loved got back to them; some of these kids were so reBELLIOUS???? because they either missed having parents, wanted to see them again, or didn't like how they were raised. these were committed kids, and I can't imagine their codependency on each other wouldn't bleed into an almost unhealthy attachment to their children??? when the world separates them I can't even imagine them wanting to be alone because they get so used to being surrounded by a certain amount of people all the time
I'll give some examples and these might definitely be hot takes but idc
Naruto not being a present father makes no fucking sense because half of the entire Naruto series is about how much that shit affected him???
Sasuke crying like a baby cause of Itachi, dreaming of his family every night, and then never coming home to see them when he has one makes no sense bro
Aang being an absent father makes no sense (esp cause I feel like Katara would talk to him about it??) just cause even tho he was focused on something, I think he would be really cognizant about how that would make the other kiddos feel??? esp cause Katara is there to kinda help him realize that (like he's not parenting alone??)
TOPH omg don't even get me started. this gurl yes she did grow up in a very controlling household (she ran away) and often times I do see this as potentially ending up in a very very liberal parenting style, but the issue I take up with this is I don't see Toph as a NEGLIGENT parent; She would've been the tough love kinda parent, doing things silently (like when she learned sand bending because she felt bad she couldn't protect Appa) idk how to explain but I feel like she woulda been having issues with emotional understanding, but she wouldn't have been NEGLIGENT like I don't get it at all she woulda grown her kids with tough love, teaching them to be strong and that their bending was important (everyone says she has trouble opening up and showing affection?? which yes, but as we see with Zuko she know what messed her up and I think we lwk don't give her enough credit) she has an entire scene where she asks if friendships can transcend lifetimes??? like guys I can't why are we normalizing my heroes who go on these life-changing journeys making relationships they hope will transcend lifetimes will NEGLECT THEIR CHILDREN like idk that doesn't make any sense to me personally and I just think that it makes the most sense that they would STOP the cycle
HARRY POTTER OH MY GOD this man had so much I don't have parents trauma and the absolute negligence in the cursed child oh my GOSH bro like doesn't he literally like think about how he wished someone would worry about his health or smt at some point and thinks of his parents abnwfoianroiefgnaiorg
GUYS this pisses me off sm I can't even explain like I just wanna see my characters with their million character arcs grow up and be happy and have happy families fuck is that so much to ask for?? like theyre not gonna be bad parents I refuse to believe it's canon idgaf
can someone tell me what the actual fuck did they do with the demodog dustin and steve put inside joyce's fridge on S2??
and did joyce ever discover that dead corpse where she used to put her food??
i have so many questions
