Unpopular Hottake: The Circus
I saw a post from the confessions blog where people were trying to accuse Blitz of sexually assaulting Stolas and that there was no way to hold that situation over Stolas and I have to fight back on that.
Stolas was the one who took Blitz to an isolated location.
Stolas was the one who locked them both inside.
Stolas was the one who turned the situation sexual.
Yes Stolas said nevermind. Meanwhile Blitz literally just bit him to subdue Stolas, there was nothing sexual intended by the action either.
It's like accusing a mugger of sexual assault because they jumped a masochist who had a really strong affinity for impact play.
Just like Stolas said "Nevermind" the situation didn't turn sexual until Stolas was the one gushing over having sex with his "first ever beat friend". As Blitz was heading out the door. And while I would say it is dubiously coercive, their first night together isn't sexual assault. Even still, it was not enjoyable for Blitz.
I think people calling Stolas rape-y for his actions in The Circus is valid. The act of isolating Blitz and literally locking him in a room is seriously rape-y. It's default inappropriate behavior while Blitz's actions were insincere and are not nearly to the level of sexual assault. It wasn't even premeditated on Blitz's side. And while Stolas had doubts, he was in no way "led on" by Blitz's behavior.
It was more a terrible and gross comedy setup and no one involved had the slightest idea how to handle that sort of setup tactfully, so instead of it being funny, it simply is deeply uncomfortable and now we have people screaming about the relationship being "mutual" sexual assault.
And, no. The only sexual assault that one could see is the book deal in Murder Family (which would make all instances of these characters having sex under that deal a form of sexual exploitation) and the only sexual harassment was Stolas. First in The Circus and even worse in Loo Loo Land.
Blitz is innocent as the person with no power in the dynamic, Stolas can kill him with a look if he actually didn't want these things to be happening and Stolas was enthusiastically guilt tripping consenting to the sex that was had in The Circus.
Stolas is not a victim of Blitz.
