It’s become so trendy to put down Frozen (because it’s always trendy to put down things liked by girls) that saying you like your favorite movie better than it is actually a pretty terrible way to say it’s good.

This isn’t even an “pitting fun animated movies that mean a lot to people against each other is ridiculous” post. Like, is anyone impressed by “This movie’s sooo much better than Frozen” at this point?

#coco #moana #tangled #this isn't to say frozen's above criticism #believe me i know that #it's just so trendy now to put it down that i don't understand why people thinking pitting their favorite movie against it is helpful?#it's become less of a 'this movie's so good that i like it even better than frozen that's how great it is!' thing #and now comes across more like 'frozen's so bad that even this movie is better than it!'#which is a pretty bad way of selling your favorite #which ironically is part of how frozen ended up getting so much backlash #because instead of appreciating it for what it is #(flawed but it has its merits - like most movies)#people were just going 'this a disney princess movie but it's not like those ~other~ disney princess movies!'#which is of course a terrible way of selling it #does a disservice to all of the movies involved #like eek #i even see a lot of people who still think the /point/ of frozen was to try to be better than the other disney princess movies #and if you think that's the point of course it's going to look terrible and mean and pretentious and stupid and poorly-made and misogynistic #and hypocritical #not to say it doesn't have flaws the way it actually is #but it's not nearly as bad when you realize that it was never supposed to be mocking the other movies #the fandom was just terrible #still is honestly #but so are the antis so either way there isn't really a good 'side'#but ironically what happened with frozen should be proof that attempting to pit our faves against others can backfire #o
