Yellow. Love it or Hate it?
Written for the @draco-tops-harry-discord-server word game! The prompt was Yellow. WC: 381
YELLOW
Draco was exhausted. He’d just spent the better part of the day arguing with his investors—the ones with the permanently pinched looks on their faces. They were cretins and morons, and he knew better than them that a cube which dispensed games onto a telly was destined to fail.
It was a hideous thing too. All square and grey. It reminded him of the puzzle box from that horror film Harry had insisted they watch. The one with the appealing BDSM outfits, and which had pushed Draco into acquiring a ball gag for Harry.
But, regardless of how tired Draco felt, as soon as his husband had greeted him at the door with a cheeky grin, he was a goner.
Harry grasped his hand and tugged him up the stairs. “Come on, I have something I want to show you.”
Between Harry’s round arse and his endearing waddles, Draco had practically salivated as he followed behind. All he wanted was to support that heavy belly from behind, and kiss Harry’s neck as he followed along.
When Harry had agreed to marry him, Draco had thought he couldn’t love the man more than he already did. But when Harry’s belly had grown with new life and blood, Draco felt his soul break into three parts. One for Harry. One for the baby. And the small chipped piece left for himself.
However, Harry was now eight months pregnant. Draco’s hands shot out behind Harry as he climbed the stairs. As much as he glowered when Draco brought it up—he was terribly unbalanced.
Draco took hold of his arm, and helped him the final steps. Arriving on the landing, Draco turned to his husband. “Where to now?”
Harry grinned. “This way.”
He brought Draco to the nursery door and bit his lip as it swung open.
Yellow.
Draco loathed the colour yellow.
Everything was yellow. The walls, the rug, the cradle. Even the little picture frame of a lemon hanging on the wall beside the changing station was yellow.
There was So. Much. Yellow.
Draco was in despair.
“Well, what do you think?” Harry asked excitedly.
Draco’s eye twitched. “I love it,” he croaked out
And he would. He’d love it for Harry and for the baby.
He’d love yellow.
Eventually.
