The good, the bad, and the romantic endings meme
Verse: Bittersweet Hearts this is the sappiest verse name ever ugh I’m so uncreative
Good ending: Through sheer perseverance, Kairi manages to make progress at getting Ienzo to open up and stop being a surly, suspicious ass. Ienzo recognizes that the negative bias he’s built up against Kairi was based off of a subconscious defense from Zexion’s absent silhouette being exposed to Kairi’s heart, and that his complete lack of aspiration is due to having no goals or hopes beyond regaining his heart and pleasing people who are no longer around. They communicate more positively after Ienzo is no longer restricted from traveling and the war is over, eventually culminating in occasional visits and/or off-world travels related to Kairi’s Keyblade-wielder duties.
Bad ending: Following the war against Xehanort, communication between the two completely deteriorates; Ienzo becomes increasingly irrational in his negativity and Kairi cannot deal with it anymore. Another possible bad ending: Ienzo flouts the traveling restrictions put on him and disappears into a corridor of darkness, never to be seen again.
Romantic ending: Sometime in the future, after things have calmed down, the two of them go out to reminisce by watching fireworks and eating ice cream. Their viewing perch isn’t exactly the safest, and one teeters a bit while sitting down. The other grabs their hand to steady them. Mumbled words of thanks and relief are traded. Hands remain clasped together in the dark.
I would do one for the as-of-unnamed verse, but I fear all endings would result in clawing my face wailing about sad island kids and so many hurdles to happy endings. So here’s at least one bad ending: Ienzo succumbs to losing his heart and fights against the others as Zexion. Their adamant refusal to kill him leads to Zexion being pulled further into Xehanort’s plots as one of his vessels, stretching out the terribleness through multiple games.
