Have they ever committed a murder?

Not personally, and she wouldn’t ever do so. She considers herself a puppetmaster who pulls the strings from the dark - someone who never steps into the light and never acts directly. But she ordered many assassinations together with Robert, so she does have blood on her hands. 

Do they have a favorite scary movie? Book? Show?

The sun hasn’t yet risen, and the small lamp in the room is still on, still pushing the shadows from their room (something she will always be grateful to Alan for adjusting to, her need for a light), yet she knows why she woke up without prompt from an alarm or the sun filtering in through the blinds: Alan hasn’t yet come to bed. The sheets are still cold and the dip in the mattress has risen in his absence, and she knows he hasn’t even made it to the room yet.

The words must be flowing.

Feet pad lightly across the floor as she makes their way down the hallway towards the living room, and she can hear the clicking of the keys on his typewriter as she draws closer. His posture is a wreck, but it’s - she glances at the clock on the wall - 3:42am and with how his fingers fly across the keys, only stopping to take a drink, she can’t fault him the way he’s sitting. She makes her presence known to him, not wanting to startle him while he works; a soft clearing of her throat before she rests her hands on his shoulders.

It had been a couple of months since Temperance started staying with Alan in his hotel room.  After all that fussing from the local folk it was just safer this way.  It was nice outside, though a bit colder than she’d have preferred since it still felt a bit like winter being up in mountains and all.

Tempy had been kind of distracted and quiet since she got up.  Could be a number of things, but any time Alan might inquire, she would dismiss it, and say it’s nothing to worry about.

However as she walked off to get ready for the day, grabbing a change of clothes and sliding into the shower, she neglected to close the laptop leaving the screen visible on the small table in the room.  On it, a small message left visible from an e-mail.

Favorite movie?

Blade Runner. I can’t tell you how often I have watched this movie now and I still rewatch it several times per year. I own a collection of most books by Philip K. Dick and “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?” was always one of my favourites. Watching the movie for the first time when I was 16 was a huge experience -  seeing alll the differences to the book, the astonishing aesthetic and the beautiful soundtrack by Vangelis…I still love to come back to this.

Who is the early bird/who is the night owl?

I see them both as natural night owls (and yes, they both sleep through their mandatory yoga hatha lessons) since they both are workaholics who stay in their office for a very long time and Gillian has issues with sleeping in general. 

But when one of them is having Pancake over, they are forced to get up early to go for a walk.  Gillian usually uses that opportunity to take a refreshing morning run and Robert loves to see the sun rise at the coast of Hong Kong. If they are together and don’t have any appointments, they like to stay in bed for as long a possible.

Who likes horror movies/who likes romance movies?

Gillian highly dislikes pure romance movies who always follow the same pattern and have obvious “please have feels now” scenes. In general, she can’t stand movies without a real plot and she doesn’t consider romance movies to have one. Robert doesn’t watch romance movies, but he is a huge sucker for (korean) soap operas and he is the one yelling “JENETTE DON’T GO BACK TO THAT DOUCHE” at the TV screen while eating his musli with yoghurt and hugging a pillow.

I picture both of them to be fans of the old horror cinema from the 70s and 80s, and they are the kind of movie hipsters saying that good horror is dead and new movies only use shaky cams and jump scares.

Who has the more complex coffee order?

Robert for sure, not only because Gillian doesn’t drink coffee at all. Everytime they go to a café or even to the DX-equivalent of Starbucks, Gillian impatiently steps with her food while already having her tea and waiting for her husband to finish his ridiculous order. You can bet he totally falls for pumpkin spice latte.

It had been a rough year trying to stay underground in San Francisco.  She could have certainly done without people hassling her over things she had been cleared of.  Someone had taken notice, and because of them she had to dip out and try to find a place to lay low for a while.

What better place than a small town in Washington?  Having arrived to Bright Falls, it was nearing dusk and Temperance just wanted to get some food, and check into the local motel to grab some sleep.  It was during the cold season with plenty of snow gathering across the landscape, to deter most tourists, so she was confident she could find a cabin to rent for a couple weeks until she figured out another place to go.

Drawing the backpack off her back, her motorcycle parked out front, she settles into a bench seat in the diner.  She didn’t stand out, which was just how she liked it, wearing a black hoodie, a white dress shirt beneath with the collar poking out over the edges of the hoodie, and a pair of dark slacks and sneakers.  Not really winter clothing, but she’s been in worse.  Just as she pushes the hoodie down, and opens the laptop up, the bickering starts.

“Need to ask you to leave.” the sound of a woman draws heterochromatic eyes up to rest on the waitress

“Sorry?” Tempy replies with a distinct English-American accent, raising her eyebrows slightly.

“Said you gotta leave.  We don’t serve traitors here.”
