Today was Such a Gorgeous Day
I went for a run in the morning and it felt so wonderful. Then, I went to Chalk Gyms for a little lifting therapy.
I came home and decided to take my Nikon D3100 out again. But I figured I should also bring my laptop because I had some work to do.
I drove (I don’t know why since it was legitimately a 3 minute drive) back to the area around Chalk Gyms parked my car and walked down North 10th Street and took some photos on the way. I finally got down to East River State Park, took some more photos around its mini beach area and people watched while I sat on the sand.
It was very calming. The breeze was beautiful and just watching other people interact with each other was really serene. Many people were doing some photoshoots with their own cameras and whatnot. I got watch some parents play with their kids and got to see some lovey dovey stuff as well between couples.
I found a bench and popped a squat. I took some more photos and then I opened up Sublime Text and started coding. The entire time, the breeze wrapped around me like a blanket and it felt so surreal.
I went through a time the past year where I did not really want to go out and was forced out most of the time by friends and whatnot. I really didn’t even realize what I am missing out on. As much as I bash humanity for a lot of its stupidity, I still love watching people interact. I love the beautiful days where I can sit in a coffee shop or a bench in a park and just read, write, photograph and/or code.
You have to force yourself out. I know a lot of people just like to shut their room doors and just chill out at home but I feel like everyone needs a little more perspective and it can start by just going down the block.
I feel like most of my “depressive” thoughts that really set me back the past year were from the lack of perspective and not going out and just having fun with other things other than my work. I’ve only been doing this stuff I’ve been saying for a short while but I honestly haven’t been this fulfilled for a while.
I really have to thank my beautiful girlfriend for really pushing me to have more perspective, more “personality”, if you will. My mother also really pushed me hard to do other things.
On top of all that I did today, I went back to the gym, which was just up the block and decided to do some more lifting therapy, specifically front squats - one of my favorite exercises.
As I read through this, I realize I’m still awful at writing and conveying my thoughts and emotions. Hopefully it gets better soon. But I am just having fun.
You should, too.
Have a great night everyone!
