Life of Lea Volume 1 Prologue: Chapter 0: Last Day of Normal

It was a quiet and peaceful morning as it was going to be a long day as it was New Year’s Eve, December 31, 2014. Our story begins at the Guerrero household that lay in the city known as West Cove. It was a cold Wednesday day as the oldest daughter, Lea Guerrero, was still laying in bed as she was still fast asleep. The second daughter, Alyssa, then walked down the hallway to wake up her big sister as she was the only one still asleep in the house. 

Alyssa bursts into the room loudly, “Lea! Time to wake up now! You are the only one still sleeping, Mom wants us to go to church today since it’s New Year’s Eve” she said as she walks over to Lea’s bed. 

Lea groans in annoyance at this rude awakening as she refused to get out of bed she turns to lie on her side making her back face her little sister with her dark chocolate brown hair fell over her face. 

“Lea! Get up! It’s time for breakfast!” Alyssa said as she tries to pull the big thick dark blue blanket off of Lea’s body.

Lea groans as she held onto her blanket and mumbles, “ I’ll be there in 5 minutes… let me stretch first…no need to be so assertive on me first thing in the morning”.

“Ok,” Alyssa says contently before leaving the room with the door wide open despite not hearing the last part of what Lea had said to her.

Lea sighs as she starts to stretch her arms then stretches her back and ankles. She knew if she didn’t stretch her body would be completely stiff which was not fun for her. Lea then got out of her bed and fixes it before walking over to the kitchen.

“Good Morning, Lea,” Mom says with a smile as she turns to look at her.

“Morning…” Lea replied in a soft voice as she made her way to her usual seat at the kitchen table that was next to the glass door.

“Don’t get too excited, Lea” Dad says sarcastically in a joking matter.

Lea just looks at him like well you weren’t woken up rudely as she got comfortable in her seat.

“Did you sleep well, Lea?” Mom asked her as she helped serve her food she gave her a sunnyside-up egg and 3 pieces of bacon.

“Yea… it was alright” Lea replied as she yawns lightly before rubbing her eyes.

“That’s good,” Mom said before she then serves herself food.

“I had a weird dream though…” Lea exclaims as she cuts off a piece of her egg.

“Hm…alright well let’s pray now” Dad replied as he was eager to start eating.

Lea nods as she puts her hands together for their blessing of the meal prayer, afterward they then start eating their eggs and bacon.

“Any of you want a drink?” Mom asked as she got up from her seat.

“Milk…” Lea exclaims as Alyssa and their dad nod in agreement.

Mom nods in agreement and then gets up to get the carton of milk from the fridge before pouring the milk into their cups.

Lea ate her food quietly as she tries to stay awake. “Damn it… I didn’t fall asleep until like 2 am…well at least I got 9 hours of sleep…maybe I’ll get better sleep tonight” Lea thought to herself. 

Lea then takes a big sip of her glass of milk in between her bites of eggs and then her bacon. After everyone ate their food, they all got ready for church, while Mom stayed back to clean up the dishes before getting ready herself. Lea then went to her daily pill container with her glass oc milk before taking a sip to take her meds. Afterward, she went to her closet to choose what she was wearing today and then went to the downstairs bathroom that was across from her bedroom, to take a shower. While Lea was in the shower, she used most of the hot water since she liked her showers warm as it felt good on her skin as well as refreshing when waking up. She then turned around to get her 2 in 1 shampoo and conditioner before putting it on her hair to wash it.

Alyssa knocks on the bathroom door, “ Lea! Don’t use up all the hot water! I still need to take a shower too!” she said a bit annoyed as she practically banged on the door to get her sister’s attention with how loud the air conditioner is.

“Yea ok!” Lea replied not caring as she finished up in the shower with rinsing out her hair and washing her body with soup before rinsing that off.

Lea then turns off the water in the shower and got out while getting her towel off the towel rack. She then dries her hair and then her body before putting on her deodorant. After getting dressed, Lea shaved a bit and then brushes her hair after drying it. When she opened the door, she could hear Alyssa complaining in the upstairs bathroom since she used most of the hot water. Lea shrugs it off as she goes back to her room to watch some Danny Phantom reruns. Alyssa later came into Lea’s room after her shower, it was obvious that she was angry at her for what she did with the water.

“I told you not to use up all the hot water, Lea!” Alyssa exclaims in a loud voice.

“I didn’t use it all up plus you told me that a tad bit too late anyways so don’t go blaming me but also you didn’t exactly say please either” Lea replied as she turned to look at her.

Alyssa groans in annoyance before leaving the room and going back upstairs. Lea sighs and goes back to watching her rerun episodes as she was now a bit annoyed from being yelled at. Dad shakes his head as he had heard them yelling at each other but was a bit happy that it was a short argument this time. After everyone finished getting ready, they then went into the blue Honda and went straight to church as they were a little bit late. Lea had her black earbuds in her ears as she listened to her music on the ride to the church. They parked at the far side of the parking lot as it was going to be a crowded mass. 

They were probably going to have to stand through it which Lea didn’t like since she had flat feet like flatter feet than her mom. They all stood by the wall, waiting for a seat on one of the benches to have room. This didn’t happen until after getting the Eucharist, Lea sighs in relief as she finally got to sit down and the non-existent arches in her feet could relax. After church, they went to the guy who was selling food at the back entrances of the church and bought some Mexican corn. It was so messy and yet so good even if it was a bit spicy as the corn was covered with mayo, cheese, and hot flakes and luckily it was only $2.50 for each one. 

They ate their Mexican corn on the way back home, as they tried not to make a mess in Mom’s blue Honda. When they got home, Lea went into her room to relax and finish up her Mexican corn as lunch wasn’t for another hour or so. After finishing her Mexican corn, Lea turned on the television and watched a Kim Possible rerun. She would occasionally go on her phone as she was texting her long-time best friend, Vanessa Maximus.

“So can I call you, dude?” Vanessa texted her. 

“ Sure” Lea texted her back.

Lea answered Vanessa’s phone call, “Hi,” she says.

“Hey dude” Vanessa replies.

“So what’s up?” Lea asked her.

“Not much and you?” Vanessa replied.

“Well, lately I’ve been having weird dreams… I don’t how to react to them though” Lea explains.

“Oh, how so dude? What happens in these dreams?” Vanessa asks her.

“ I don’t remember much other than seeing ice when the dream starts” Lea replied.

“Hm…ok, well how long have you been having this dream?” Vanessa says.

“Oh well… they’ve been happening for a couple of days now” Lea replied with a soft yawn.

“Alright well I have to go, Leo wants to play video games with me” Vanessa exclaims as her brother’s voice could be heard in the background of their phone call.

“Alright then, bye” Lea replied as she wondered what Leo and Vanessa were gonna play this time.

“Yea bye,” Vanessa says before hanging up.

Lea hangs up as well then puts her phone down on her bed then gets up to throw the leftover corn in the kitchen’s trashcan. Mom glances at her as she made lunch as it got closer to 2 pm.

“Hm…I wonder what’s for lunch…” Lea thought to herself as she came into the kitchen.

“Lea, did you take your meds this morning?” Mom asked her as she didn’t see her bring her meds to the table.

“Yea, I did, I took it when I went back to my room to get ready for church” Lea replied as she had brought her cup from earlier back from her room before handing it over to Mom.

“Good, don’t skip them again” Mom warned her before washing Lea’s cup for her.

“I won’t, Mom” Lea replied with a soft and slightly sarcastic tone as she walks back to her room.

“I guess we are having sandwiches for lunch,” Lea thought as she noticed what Mom had spread out on the counter was a loaf of bread, peanut butter, and strawberry jelly.

Lea sighs as she lays in her bed as she went back to watching Kim Possible. After it ended Lea switched to a different channel only to see her golden retriever, Cloud, walk into the room, since she didn’t close her door too often.

“Hey, Cloud” Lea says to him as she turns to look at him.

Cloud just looked at her with his big dark brown eyes before moving closer to be petted. Lea sighs and gently pets his head as if she could ever say no to his cute puppy dog eyes.

“Happy now?” Lea asks him as if he would ever reply to her.

Cloud nudges his head against her hand as he wanted to be petted more as a response to her question.

“Spoiled dog” Lea mumbles to herself as she giggles lightly at his love for attention.

Cloud huffs as he nudges against her hand again as he insisted that she continue to pet his head. Lea sighs in annoyance and makes him leave the room as she did ‘That’s enough’ and ‘You can go now’ hand gestures. Only for Cloud to look at her blankly and lie down in the hallway. Lea shakes her head and goes back to watching the episode that she had playing on her tv. After 10 minutes, Mom finished making the food for lunch then goes Lea’s room and knocks on the door.

“ Lea, time for lunch,” Mom says as she stood in the doorway before making her way to the living room.

“Alright Mom, I’m coming” Lea replied as she got up from her bed.

Lea reaches for the tv remote and then turns off the television, before going over to the kitchen. Everyone serves themselves food and then sat on the couch in the living room. Alyssa, who was already on the couch with her food, got ahold of the living room remote and turns on the television before Lea could do so first. Alyssa then put on one of her shows that she liked but to Lea, who thought they were too ridiculous to watch for too long. Lea glanced at her with a ‘Really now?’ and ‘Why this show of all reasons?’ kind of expression. Alyssa just looked at her with a ‘suck it up girl’ kind of smug expression. 

Lea rolls her eyes and sighs before taking a bite out of her sandwich and watching the show. As the show went to commercial, Lea saw that her favorite old movie was going to be played later tonight which made her happy.

“We’re not going to watch that,” Alyssa says as she scrunches up her nose a little bit in disapproval.

“Why not? It’s a good movie” Lea replied with a pout as she glanced at Alyssa.

“No, it’s not, it’s boring, plus you’ve seen this movie already” Alyssa complains as she recalled the other times she replayed all of her favorites.

“It’s not boring and I like re-watching it” Lea replied as she glares at

her.

“Yea but not all of us like re-watching it with you,” Alyssa says as she got angrier.

“You two stop it now and Alyssa you don’t have to be in the room when it’s on” Mom exclaims as she tries to break up their argument.

“Fine…” Alyssa groans a bit as she was still irritated at Lea before putting the volume up higher once her show got back on after the commercial break.

“Lea…” Mom says softly as she looks at her with a stern expression.

“Yea…ok” Lea replied still a bit sore from her sister’s comment towards her before taking another bite of her sandwich.

Mom shakes her head in disapproval with how Lea dismissed showing some amount of maturity after having a petty argument.

“You two need to stop arguing so much…it’s getting really old now” Dad nags them as he wanted to give his two cents on what just happened despite Mom already getting them two stops.

“Mhm…” Lea mumbles as she didn’t notice if Dad was even paying attention at all.

“Especially for you, Lea, you’re the oldest, you need to be the example for your sister” Mom exclaims as she wanted to make sure that Lea knew she should react differently.

Lea sighs in annoyance, “Yea…ok” she replied as she wondered why she was the only one getting lectured.

Mom shakes her head again as she realized maybe she hadn’t added to what her husband added in. While Lea took her time eating, Alyssa was the first to be finished her sandwiches before going over to the kitchen to take care of her plate. Lea finished her sandwiches last after everyone else had cleaned their plate and fork before putting them into the dishwasher. Alyssa doesn’t go back to the living room as she goes up the stairs back to her room. After taking care of her plate, Lea went back to her room to watch what she wanted to watch. She glances at the Princess clock on her bedroom wall that hung over her bed to see if it was 8 pm, so she could catch Who Framed Roger Rabbit when it started before quickly turning her tv back on.

Lea sighs, “This is going to be a long night after all,” she thought to herself as the movie was not on yet. 

The door slowly creaks open as Cloud came into the room again as Lea didn’t close her door all the way.

“Oh…hey Cloud” Lea says in a soft tone as she glances at him.

Cloud sits in front of her and nudges his head into her hand to be petted again. Lea sighs and gently pets his head then scratches behind his ears as his tail began to wag around happily.

“You just love to be petted, don’t you?” Lea asked him.

Cloud huffs and then licks her hand when she stopped petting him.

“I finished petting you for now please let my hand rest, Cloud, go lay down for now, please” Lea exclaims before removing her hand from under his chin.

Cloud blinks a bit before laying down on the floor. Lea sighs and looks through the television guide as she records the movie, that she wanted to watch then turns off the television before laying flat in her bed. As Lea was about to close her eyes and get into a more comfortable position, Alyssa came into the room abruptly.

“Why are you taking a nap? You just ate” Alyssa nags her.

“I’m not taking a nap, I was giving my back a break” Lea snaps at her a bit as she got a bit defensive.

“Yea …mhm sure you were,” Alyssa said with a sarcastic tone as she was letting the annoyance she still had from earlier.

“I was! I was still going to play on my phone, also why did you come into my room like that?” Lea replied even more irritated.

“Yea ok,” Alyssa said still sarcastic before leaving the room as she didn’t bother answering her question.

Lea mumbles to herself in annoyance, “Geez…why can’t she be nice for once…” she thought to herself. 

She then lays back down and goes on her phone to play her apps for a while.

“Lea, why don’t you draw instead of playing on your phone?” Mom asked her as she stood in the hallway with a basket of laundry.

“I would draw but I am currently having artist's block” Lea replied with a pout as she stopped her game to glance at Mom.

“Oh maybe try looking for inspiration ” Mom suggested to her before trying to open the door to the garage with one hand.

“Hm…maybe… I could put on some anime to try it out” Lea replied as she sat upwards.

“Alright, whatever helps you to stay awake for tonight” Mom exclaims before going into the garage.

“Mhm…” Lea mutters before putting her phone down on her bed and going on the computer that was in front of her bed in the corner of her room before pressing the power button.

As Lea waits for the computer to be turned on, Alyssa stood in the doorway with a mischievous grin.

“I thought you were going to play on your phone” Alyssa exclaims as she felt like poking the lion with a stick again.

“Yea I was but Mom brought up that I should draw instead of laying down so I’m going to watch anime” Lea replied as she gave Alyssa some side-eye.

“Hm…ok then” Alyssa mutters before walking off into the hallway to get a drink from the kitchen.

Lea sighs as she waits for the computer to load up. When it finally finished loading, Lea clicks on the Internet Explorer icon.

 “This is going to take a while…” Lea thought to herself as she watched the loading circle turn around and around slowly. Lea waited about ten minutes before the Internet page was completely loaded.

 “Ugh…it’s taking forever to load…but then again it is a pretty old computer,” Lea thought to herself as she remembered the day Mom got it. 

She then clicks on the favorites icon and then clicks on her usual anime website on the favorites list. Lea sighs begrudgingly as she waits again for her anime page to load. After another ten minutes, her anime page finally finished loading. Lea then clicks on the lists of anime on the page so she could through the animes she has seen.

“Hm…which one…which one…should I watch this time” Lea mumbles to herself.

She first looks through the A list then the B list, then H, K, M, N, O, P, and S.

“Hm…maybe this one,” she said going back to the B list.

Lea then waits for the page to load again and then began to think to herself that maybe she should get a drink or snack while she waits. 

“What should I eat and drink? Maybe milk and some Pocky or ramen ” she thought to herself. 

Lea gets lost in thought as she didn’t notice that her anime page finished loading up since she had started staring at the wall. Alyssa had come back with her drink noticing Lea had zoned out and decided to sneak up on her for fun.

“Hey it finished loading up, Lea” Alyssa says as she tapped her shoulder hard.

“E-Eh? Oh ok,” Lea flinches slightly as she was caught off guard.

“Oh? What? Did I scare you?” Alyssa said as she starts to smirk at her.

“No, you didn’t,” Lea says with a pout as she lies to her face.

“Mhm…” Alyssa replied in a sarcastic yet amused tone.

“No need to be sarcastic nor smug” Lea snapped at her.

“Uhuh ok” Alyssa replied still sarcastic as she continued to metaphorically poke the lion with a stick.

“You can go now” Lea snaps at her again as she was done with Alyssa bugging & mocking her.

“Hm…maybe I’ll stick here” Alyssa exclaims with a big smirk.

“What? No, you can not” Lea replied with more anger in her tone as she wanted to be left alone now.

“Yes, I can,” Alyssa said as she lays on her bed as she continued to press on her sister’s buttons.

“Fine as long as you don’t bother me with my work” Lea replied as she tries to calm down.

“Kay your bed is comfy anyways,” Alyssa says as she got comfy and then plays on her phone.

Lea sighs and then looks at her phone as Vanessa was texting her about her latest family drama as she read it in her mind. 

“Vanessa just can’t get a break from them…can she?” Lea thought to herself after sending her reply text before putting her phone back down on the table.

Alyssa looks at her confused, “Something happened with Vanessa again?” she asks her as she noticed the face Lea was making.

“Yea…it’s the same as always…”Lea replied in a sympathetic tone.

“What’s wrong with them…” Alyssa says in disapproval. 

“I don’t know…it’s like they are so fixed on making both of their children robots or that they are living through their kids” Lea replied with a pout.

Alyssa shakes her head just before sitting up, picking up her cup from the desk, and then leaving the bedroom.

“Hm… maybe I’ll draw one of my OCs… which one should I draw is the question,” Lea thought to herself. Lea then gets her sketchbook, a pencil, an eraser, a pen, and her sharpener. She then thinks of what the pose should be.

“Hm…” Lea mutters as she looks at the clock on the computer noticing that it was time for her show as well as it was getting closer to dinner time.

She then closes the anime page that she had opened then turns off the computer before turning on the television again. Lea then sat on her bed as she watches Who Framed Roger Rabbit? 

“It’s still good even after watching it over and over again,” Lea thought to herself. 

She could hear her mom in the distance, cooking in the kitchen.

 “Hm…I wonder what we will be eating for dinner…Hm… spaghetti with meatballs with garlic bread does sound good right about now” Lea thought to herself. 

Lea picks up the tv remote off her bed and puts the movie on pause before going to the kitchen to ask her mom.

“Hey Mom, what’s for dinner?” Lea asked her in a soft tone.

“We are having spaghetti and meatballs” Mom replied with a cheery smile as she turned to look at Lea.

“Oh ok… will we be having garlic bread as well?” Lea asked her again curiously.

“Yes, we are, I know it’s your favorite” Mom replied as she checks if the water was boiling yet to see if the pasta was fully cooked.

“Alright cool,” Lea said happily before going back to her bedroom.

She then sits on her bed then picks up the tv remote before she presses the play button and resumes her movie. 

Lea yawns lightly, “Maybe I’ll go to bed early tonight,” she thought to herself. 

Lea got through 15 minutes of the movie before being called for dinner by her mom.

“Lea! Time for dinner!” Mom exclaims from the kitchen as the walls in the house weren’t exactly thickly layered.

She then turns off the television and joins the others in the kitchen as they served themselves food. They then all sat in the living room, with Lea, Alyssa, and Mom, on the couch, while Dad sat in his big brown rocking chair that was beside the wall near the glass door that led over to the backyard. Lea then picks up the tv remote first before turning the television on and putting the movie on she was watching earlier.

Alyssa sighs in annoyance, “Why…” she groans as she glares at Lea as she was hoping that Lea didn’t get the remote first.

“That’s because I can’t watch it in my room right now” Lea replied with a slight smug smile.

“Fine but I’m changing it when you leave” Alyssa huffs in defeat.

“That’s fine” Lea replied with more smugness in her tone.

They then ate their spaghetti with meatballs and garlic bread as they watched Who Framed Roger Rabbit.

Lea then got up and got herself a cup of milk, Dad noticed, “Lea can you get me a drink too, please” he asked politely.

“Yea…ok” Lea replied with a sigh.

“Thank you,” Dad says with a smile.

“You're Welcome” Lea replied as she got him a cup of milk as well.

Lea then walks back with the drinks and hands over one of them to her dad then sat back in her seat. After everyone finished their food, they washed their dishes and then put them in the dishwasher. Lea went back to her room with her drink and took her pills.

“Lea, we are going to pray now,” Dad said as he stood in the doorway.

“Alright…I’ll be right there” Lea replied as she stood up and follows her dad upstairs.

Once they got to her parent’s room, Lea sat on the floor while Dad, Mom, and Alyssa lay on the bed. After they all prayed for 10 minutes, they all tell each other good night and then goes to their room. Lea yawns a bit before changing into her pajamas, which were just a t-shirt and shorts. 

“Maybe I’ll finish watching the movie tomorrow,” Lea thought to herself before laying on her bed.

 Cloud then came into her room and lays beside her bed as he curls up on one of her rugs.

“How cute you wanna sleep with me for once, I’m honored, so good night, Cloud” Lea said before closing her bedroom door.

She then curls up in her bed and closes her eyes after wrapping herself in her blanket and hugging her pink stuffed bunny. 

“Hopefully I’ll get some sleep tonight,” Lea thought to herself. 

After 20 minutes, Lea slowly falls asleep as her pink bunny starts to slip out of her grasp. As she starts to dream, she sees two creatures talking in an ice-like beach resort.

“…Who are they?” Lea thought to herself as she looked at them. 

“This getting out of hand…more and more of us are going missing…we can’t go doing rash things, what were you thinking taking that book from her of all things!?” the blonde creature nagged the other.

“Well…what else could I do? She must be behind all of this so maybe this book has something…but if nothing works then we can go get Noemi to help us” the brunette creature replied.

“As that would even work…we haven’t seen her in so long let alone anyone else from her clan,” the blonde creature said in disagreement.

“We have to at least try!” the brunette creature replied.

“……How do they know my mom? But also how have they not noticed that I can see them? Can they not see me? I guess it doesn’t matter since they aren’t real, my imagination is really something, I guess” Lea said in confusion.

“Should I tell them where my mom is?... Maybe? I mean it doesn’t mean they can hear me either, despite me not talking softly in front of them but then again I’m not exactly yelling to get their attention either” Lea says to herself.

“Well if we do have to resort to looking for Noemi…where would we even start looking anyways?” the blonde creature asks in a defeated tone.

“Hm…well last I heard she was going to settle down with her family in a different dimension with the rest of her clan and her husband’s clan, so we can start there” the brunette creature exclaims as they assure the other.

“That might work but how will you get there? Let alone track down their location?” the blonde creature asks.

“Well as much as I love to ask for your help but I suppose I can ask  _______ for help,” the brunette creature says as they leaned over to get something out of their pocket

“Of course, I would love to help you like I usually do but my brother is still missing, I have to keep looking for him when I can and besides your not the one who’s watching over this place while my boss is missing on top of that, sorry but I agree _______ can help you for the meantime” the blonde creature complains.

“True, you have a point there, I can’t fault you for juggling so much already…sorry…I am also worried about your brother…my _________…we both love him so much…” the brunette replied as they looked down.

“Of course…but we can’t resort to black magic…we might become evil from the book’s temptation, we don’t even know how that book came to be but at least you were wearing gloves when handling it” the blonde fairy explains.

“True but at least she can’t make anyone else disappear for now as long as we have her book, right?” the brunette creature replied as they glanced at the book on the counter that was laying on white gloves.

“Fair point but for now let’s hide it somewhere so nobody else can find it” the blonde exclaims as their hand starts to glow pink as the book started to float in the air.

“……Is this Snow White-looking book that bad? I wonder what kind of things it contains on its pages” Lea exclaims curiously.

“Perhaps we can hide it with the least expecting person we know,” the blonde creature suggests.

“That might work but we can never be too careful…maybe we can put it in my library” the brunette creature replied.

“Hm…might work let’s try it, maybe when _______ gets here he can put an illusion and protection spell on it” the blonde creature exclaims.

“True, I’ll go wait by the door til _______ arrives” the brunette creature replied before making their way across what appears to be a living room.

“Hm…perhaps I shouldn’t be here…I don’t think that situation has to do with me since they aren’t real beings” Lea mutters to herself as she slowly walks away from the two creatures.

“This sure is a pretty place… looks like it’d be really cold and yet I am still so comfy…why is that? Is it because I’m in a dream? Maybe so” Lea thought to herself as she makes her way out of what appeared to be a 2 story house before making her way onto the sand to look at the ocean and sunset as well as her current surroundings.

“Who knows…but what is with these dreams…I always return to this place and hear the same conversation over and over again… what does it all mean? I have had meaningful dreams and dreams that somehow predicted a specific event” she thought to herself as the dream came to an end.
