Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me. —Revelation 3:20
I was so excited I could barely wait for my sister and niece to arrive for a visit. I spent days preparing to welcome them.
Flowers displayed in every room. Vacuuming baseboards and under beds. Buying special soaps and food.
What a wonderful time we had eating at favorite restaurants, touring the countryside, riding bikes, and taking beautiful nature walks along meandering trails.
My priority was creating a welcoming atmosphere and sharing all the things that delight me in my new home state.
The details are not what really mattered.
It was about family time — talking and spending every waking moment together. And we did!
There is One who comes to our door and waits to be invited in.
Jesus already knows everything about our home and how we spend our days. And He delights in being part of our family — sitting at our table, taking walks with us, and sharing in all the details and moments of our lives.
Where do I need to welcome the Lord into my day?
Oh God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you. —Psalm63:1
