hi, erika! how are u? if you're up for it, could you write hcs on how nacht, liebe, yuno and zora would comfort their s/o after they had a bad dream, please?
Someone's asking for headcanons from me again? It's been so long!
And I am certainly up for writing for that prompt~! Sorry for the wait but I hope what I write makes up for it!
Nacht understands. He doesn't just have bad dreams but the worst nightmares that he could ever face. His s/o never has to worry about him judging them for having bad dreams.
When his s/o is shaken from a dream, Nacht doesn't dare leave their side but he wants to provide as much comfort as possible. He sends his devils to prepare some soothing tea for them.
Nacht and his s/o sit on a couch. His s/o is wrapped in a blanket and has a mug of tea in their hands.
He would encourage them to discuss their dream. It's something he'd be trying himself, facing his nightmares and trying to understand what they mean. And understanding might help make them less scary.
As his s/o describes their dream, Nacht quietly listens. He only speaks up if his s/o ever hesitates or trembles to tell them "Take your time" or "There's nothing to be afraid of."
It doesn't matter how long it takes, Nacht talk or listen until the mug is empty and his s/o is relaxed again. He's got time and attention to spare to make sure they feel better.
Liebe would be frozen still on the outside but flailing inside, because he really doesn't know how to approach comforting other people.
What he does know for sure is that hugs are the most comforting thing in the world. Licita and Asta's hugs make him feel loved and like nothing else in the world will harm him again.
So what Liebe does when his s/o is crying from a bad dream is hug them. Because he wants to impart that same feeling to them, especially at times like this.
He guides their face to his shoulder so they don't have to look at anything. One arm is wrapped around their midde. The other is positioned in a way so his hand is on their head.
"I... I don't know what your dream was about... Whatever it was, it's not real," Liebe awkwardly mutters out. "But I'm real. Feel that?" He gives them a faint squeeze, if only to bring them closer. "I'm right here for you."
His s/o is free to cry into his shoulder to let out any lingering stress or fear. They might hug him back, or they might just curl up against his chest.
Liebe's actions speak for him better than words ever could. He doesn't say much, instead letting his presence and touch calm you down.
Once the crybaby of a family, Yuno has learned how to comfort someone after a bad dream from receiving that care.
When Yuno's s/o comes to his room, shaking and tear-eyed from a bad dream, he lets them get under the covers with him. Boy thought he outgrew it but he's okay with cuddling if it's to comfort his s/o.
Yuno and his s/o are right up against each other. There's a couple inches of space between them so they can look each other in the eyes.
Some tears might slip out from their eyes and Yuno simply reaches out to brush them aside. He doesn't draw anymore attention to their crying. They probably wouldn't that.
The two of them are in close proximity and are sharing warmth under the blanket. That alone is enough to soothe Yuno's s/o.
Yuno's not usually good with words but he'll try to strike up a conversation. "Your eyes have a different color in the dark" or "Do you want to spend the rest of the night here?" Anything to distract his s/o from any lingering thoughts about the nightmare.
Yuno and his s/o slowly fall back asleep as they talk about nonsensical things. When they wake up, the two of them find that they scooted closer together in their sleep.
Zora isn't the type of person to coddle someone else; he's been on his own too long to be good at it. But for the sake of his s/o, he does his best to be gentle to them.
He sits next to his s/o on the edge of the bed, arm around their shoulders and rubbing their arm in a soothing manner.
Soon, their heads are leaning against one another, both of them looking to close the already short distance. Zora's s/o is seeking comfort and he's responding in kind to give it.
"I can't tell you not to be scared of nightmares," Zora says as softly as he can. "It's your bad dream, your fears." It is pretty coarse of him to say.
But as he goes on, his words become gentler and more reassuring. "But you gotta remember, because they're your fears, you can overcome them. You've got a strong spirit, it's one reason why I took a liking to you."
Whatever his s/o's bad dream was about, Zora would want to point out the reasons why they shouldn't be so afraid. If they had a bad dream about losing a battle, Zora reminds them that they're a capable fighter. If they dreamt about Zora leaving them, he reassures them that the thought has never crossed his mind; they're stuck with him.
"You've got nothing to be afraid of. You're an amazing person who can overcome anything you set your mind to. And if you ever need a little extra help, know that I have your back," Zora says while falling back onto the bed. "Now, let's have ourselves some better dreams, 'kay?"
