Does the world realize how crucial librarians are?
I am so sick of hearing people shit on libraries and books because āāāno one uses themāāā but you would be fucking floored to see how important a public library or even a high school library is.
We donāt just hoard books!!! There are computers!! Many, many sources of information!!! There are people there to help you with whatever you need!! Programs for children!! And teens!!!! And adults!!! Printers, faxes, movies, audio books, etc etc etc
THERE IS SO MUCH STUFF OTHER THAN BOOKS!
It makes my heart hurt to know the average person doesnāt value a library because there is so much going on in your local library, you donāt even know. Not to mention, without librarians, all that information that is so readily available would be gone. You wouldnāt be able to access shit without librarians actively taking care of it.
The survival and preservation of information is so crucial. Without librarians, you bet your ass that everything in your history book, biographies, legal documents, etc would not exist. If it werenāt for the Library of Congress, our government would fall apart. Seriously.
Next time you hear some sour ass bitch talking about how unimportant reading is, or how worthless the library is, I want you to slap them and tell them itās from me and itās personal.
switched over from a bullet journal to notion. this is my college page, which took two semesters to perfect, and iām so proud and happy with how iāve been able to use it to keep me on track!
1. i have a bad habit of not going to class so being able to check off the classes as i attend them makes me feel more accomplished and encourages me to go to class. anything for a little serotonin.
2. i like to visually see my upcoming due dates, just so it feels more real and lights a fire under my butt to get my work done.
3. i also like organizing my assignments and listing what class they are for, how much theyāre worth, and what marks i got.
4. i made separate pages to keep track of all of my class which then contains all my notes, documents, and online resources (such as e-books and websites relevant/required for the class). it also has contact information for the professor and individual assignment lists.

Hahaha we are such a good student not completing a resubmission last minute because brain wouldn't let us work (and still won't) and the only reason you have to resubmit it because you didn't use enough references
Everything is going great. This is just 1 of 3 assignments I have left of this library degree to go

w1 q6: Where in your house is your favourite place to study?
I am not isolating in my house, but while I'm here I prefer studying in the library. Sadly, it's usually occupied on weekdays, but today I had the chance to use it!
how much of a faux pas is it to say āi want your job when you retireā to your librarian? is it threatening? confident? iāve been trying to find people who write about this, with no luck.
i volunteer with my uni deptās library/ian weekly and have been for a year and a bit now as part of the ālibrary volunteers teamā and main editor for our online newsletter. she teaches courses at the masters level in another uni in my city for an information studies/library focus program that i want to apply for when iām done my undergrad (not for a few more years, at least), and iām already confident that she would write me a solid reference letter (sheās said so).
i havenāt said to her āi want your jobā specifically (yet), only that i could see myself working a job like hers (working with students, at any education level, providing support and guidance). she goes above and beyond for her students, essentially doing the job that my academic coach is supposed to do on top of her work as our in-house reference librarian and prof.
sheās been working as my deptās librarian for 20+ years, and is a graduate of the program herself. she is the heart and soul of the place for students.
