#lhs doesn't write

For what it’s worth, I hadn’t counted on spending the month of November in a state of full-on existential stress - the Great References Bungle of 2015 was an eye-wateringly unbelievable debacle. It did for a while look like I was going to lose the new job before it had even started, as the way the bungle played out made it look like I’d lied on the application form. And lying on the form is something that will cost you your offer, of course.

(I hadn’t lied - even I’m not that foolish. Rather, it was that my unlamented former employer was literally too incompetent for their HR department to have realised that I’d ever worked there. Because it’s not like managers ever need to talk to other managers, amirite? So it seems Former Team Lead never sent the new starter form to HR when I began working there. Hence the insane saga that kicked off once said HR department got asked to pass on a reference...)

And one thing that evaporates completely when I’m existentially-stressed is any ability to write. So November has been a bit of a wasted month, basically.

Given that we have less than a week left ... yeah, there’s no way it’s going to happen.

I’m hoping that maybe I’ll have enough equilibrium back to function normally come January or February.
