maya had been studying for her sociology midterm for basically the entire day, so as one might expect, she was exhausted. sociology was a subject that she excelled at, yet she was still extremely stressed by the test. “what if i fail?” maya pondered to herself. her thoughts were going a million miles per hour; she didn’t even realize the person closest to her had been speaking. “shoot, what did you say?” she asked with a sympathetic look. “i’m sorry, my brain is just totally fried right now.” maya apologized as she shook her head at herself.

while walking back to her dorm, maya noticed a fellow squad member leaving the bookstore. they seemed to be in a rush, so she had decided not to say hello to them. but because they were walking so fast, something had fallen out of one of their backpack pockets. maya glanced around, and it seemed nobody around them was planning on letting them know that they dropped something. “so rude. what if it’s important?” she thought to herself. she sprinted to where they had dropped it, and then started heading their direction. “hey!” maya yelled, catching up to them. “i think that you dropped this.” she said, holding out the item.
