Surface level observation of "Pluribus", still it's kinda funny to me how the hivemind take over is also a transformation of Carol's world in the logic of NA/YA romance place. Carol tries, and even indulges in it for many times, even enjoys herself a bit in it. And yet, like in her career before, there's a lingering dissatisfaction beneath the surface. The romance titiulationand escapism was easy to write. It's easy to romance the gorgeous pirate lady, and getting every material wish catered to. Yet the hivemind, like the YA/NA genre is very samey. It is full of questionable reasoning for it's morals but that gets brushed under the rug because everyone is so, so happy and perfectly harmonious in that cozing up feeling Zosia describes.
It's difficult writing a novel with more indepth themes. In fact it might not be greatly received upon first drafts, and needs corrections. Which will feel uneasy, dissapointing if not dissatisfying for Carol.
But the hivemind wants the happy-fuzzy-feelings series about indulgences.

The only review I found complained that man character Suzie is an abrasive, lashing out women with bad coping coping mechanisms, difficulty to express friendliness, hardly speaks Japanese as expat due to dyslexia but is also antisocial. Excuse me, was that supposed to be negative?
Anyway, my personal recommendation for a sci-fi thriller show with a mostly female cast consisting of an antisocial, difficulty with grieving, tech-hating maincharacter, overbearing and actually lonely mother-in-law, past her 50s Yakuza daughter aspiring to become boss, lesbian bar keeper with the worst sense of orientation possible, and well-intentioned, passive aggressive robot, my recommendation goes out for "Sunny". Also the lighting is pretty good.

In hindsight the Breaking Bad fanbase is so funny to me. I watched the show way past it's inception. And I don't know why dudes were all over Walter because this dude is so unlikeable, selfcentered, and disaffected from his family from the get go. Meanwhile Skyler does support and protect him every step on the way.
Truly fascinating how the narrative of "protagonist tragically becomes a villain" arose because Walter not liking living in the nuclear family, and being emotionally stunted towards his disabled son never boded well to me.
(also dropped it somewhere at the beginning because this show drags like old caramel candy... BCS managed the fall from grace with a protagonist having the tendency to make bad moral decisions but also the ability to decide for better much more convincing.)
Still thumbs up for Gilligan allowing the beauty of silent scene and unspoken matters gracing his scenes.
The BRA finale still rattles through my brain but...
Utena being canonically good at math but her getting distracted by the duels to reach a good score at tests... Her adeptness in math implies her capability in being able to abstract problems and go through them by logic. Also it explains her interaction with the Shadow girls in the Black Rose arc. Her answers might not be the most sympathetic but they're logical, simple solutions not caught up in difficult second guessing. Yet she's getting distracted, information gets withheld form her, she doesn't know with what factors she has to calculate with, she gets too distracted by external factors to properly, logically think through something.
Then there's Mikage as Utena's foil. He's considered a genius, his work is constantly occupied with calculations. In fact he seemed to have solved Tokiko's search for eternity. When he still was Nemuro, he was too horrified by the price the practical application of the calculation demanded. "It wouldn't be what she wanted...!" He solves problems for a well intended purpose. However, Akio drastically falsified Mikage's memories, so Mikage doesn't mind continuously solving problems with collateral in practical application. the purpose of his problem solving got misdirected.
thinking about the juxtaposition of Anthy's uniform look and Anthy's private moments. At school Anthy does everything to avoid contact with the world as much as possible. Her hair is very long and luscious yet she pins it up in very tight curls. Actually her eyes are fine yet she puts on glasses. And yet the school uniform bares a lot skin of her legs and arms, even stresses an hourglass silhouette.
In private moments with Utena, when both go to bed, she lets her hair and puts her glasses down, yet her night gown covers all the rest of her body, and hides any possible shape of it's wearer. (Also, also when they both lived together in the dormitory, still growing together more closely, Anthy wore her loose nightgown but still had her hair in tight curls, even in a nightcap, and put on her glasses (maybe just to watch the Cowstain Dior ad).)
