Music Video Raises Awareness About Domestic Abuse
When I first watched this, I burst into tears, I had delivered a talk at the Beyond Valentine's annual conference earlier on Saturday about how to take back control and move on and watching this video really brought to life the issues many face every day, no matter the age, race or social status. My first instinct was to share the video but I was just too distressed to share or even comment.
I laid awake all night, and I was going to share the morning before going to church and thought it was inappropriate. But thinking about it all day, I thought...inappropriate for what or for who? A Sunday morning, when many go to church...what is that about? Even as we speak, while many bow their heads in a prayer as the Vicar delivers his sermon, someone somewhere is being domestically abused and sadly even killed. And as Saturday's Beyond Valentine's 4th Annual Conference reinforced again, this foul societal stench is not going away.....even on a Sunday morning.....
The good news is that we are not going away either, won't stay silent, we can't stay silent...the lives of the current and next generation are at stake. In any way you can be part of the "We" It could be through the much needed support, fundraising, campaigning, sharing your story, whistle blowing, praying, being a trusted friend, a shoulder, a confidant, provide a safe house, advice, signposting, charity events to raise awareness, get DV training, but don't just stand by and watch.
Many of us around the world are doing a lot to eradicate DV, and well done whoever you are....but guess what guys it is not enough....
