Something that really bothered me was seeing a mom telling her kids to insult a mother and daughter for simply being themselves. She told her two boys to yell out racial slurs and curse words at them. I had never seen these many kinds of situations until recently and it is scary. People insulting others without being provoked or anything.    

This is one of the reasons why I avoid any eye contact and don't talk to anyone on the bus and train. The situation that happened this past weekend was scary. To be attacked and cursed at for no reason other than being whatever race we are is not right.    

My younger sister who many of you know has speech impediments, didn't know how to react and I feared that this guy was going to hurt her when he started running towards her. All she was doing was listening to music and looking at the map on her phone to see when the next train was coming. I along with another lady got in front of my sister when they guy started to come towards her as if he was about to hurt her. It wasn't just us that he verbally attacked, but others people at the station. He did attack a few young men at a nearby stop light and thankfully they too left. Whoever the guy is, he was clearly in a bad state of mind and was venting, just not in a better way.

As for the mother and daughter who were being harassed, I was just glad that they were okay and not physically hurt and I'm glad that they brushed it off and didn't engage at all with the rude mother and children. Seeing that mother tell her young kids to do this and for them to go along with what she said bothered and shocked me. Those two kids are at an age where they are constantly being told that what their parents say and do is what goes. Even though they might be able somewhat understand right from wrong, they do what their parents tell them.  

What I'm trying to say is that you can't attack someone and be angry at them when they have not done anything to you personally. To be angry at a whole group of people for injustices that they may not have done is never a good thing. I understand being hurt by everything that is going on but people attacking others randomly in any manner doesn't make anything better.  

I could go on with the argument about how we are all human and how tracing back to the past reveals that we all came from the same place but none of that seems to matter to some.    So I will say this: I like that we are all different and that we can appreciate other cultures and learn from each other. I like learning other languages or at least a few words if I can’t become fluent in a language. I like how we borrow from each other and it's always fascinating to me to learn information about different parts of the world and having the opportunity to interact with one another even if it is through the internet.
