Known for her fascination with monsters and anomalies, the Senobium Mage Alcina was quick to stake her claim on the abandoned infant.

(8-15) He was rarely allowed to leave Alcina’s side. When he wasn't accompanying her through daily tasks, he spent most of his time holed up in her office with nothing but her books to keep him company.

(15yr) Alcina was barred from practicing alchemy and stripped of her rank after she was caught experimenting on human prisoners. She fled with Sol before they could take her to trial.

After weeks on the run they managed to settle down in a modest port town (Alcina establishes herself as a physician and works at the local clinic to make ends meet).

(16yr) Without the Senobium keeping Alcina’s morbid obsession at bay, she soon turned to Sol as her primary subject, dedicating her free time to curing them of their curse (believing that if she were to succeed, the Senobium would reinstate her position as Mage).

The magenta color of Sol’s eyes are an effect of Alcina’s work and not due to their fae parentage.

It was during this period where Alcina began teaching Sol her knowledge of alchemy and magic, albeit sparingly, not wanting him to know enough to get any smart ideas (spoiler alert: he gets a smart idea)

(~24) Sol’s recollection of his adolescence has been mostly altered due to the stress of Alcina’s trials, but it’s the faint memory of the Senobium as a place of vast knowledge that drove him to seek answers for what Alcina’s experiments simply couldn’t fix.
