october | 4 | 2016 View from the pan-american highway of the two beautiful volcanoes that form the island of #Ometepe . I left #Nicaragua that day. Left San Juan del Sur. It was tough to say goodbye to all the amazing people I met there. It was tougher to leave behind my job that I loved so bad. However, I had to quit. I had to keep on moving. It was about a year that I started traveling, and I had the same feeling as when I left "home". I was confused, scared, very nervous, but that voice inside me wouldn't stop shouting: EXPLORE, CYCLE, LIVE. It felt so good to be back on the road. And then it happened. *¿Qué hora son mi corazón? Once de la noche en Managua, Nicaragua.* This is my $7 USD souvenir from the capital of Nicaragua. Four pictures of myself with a two hour sleep face. I was fooled like a child when some nicas with immigration uniforms convinced me to take some pictures for the paperwork just outside the office. After almost three hours and minus $313 USD -amount of the fine for overstaying in the country- , I still had the four pictures in my pocket, but I was finally legal again and ready to hit the road south towards a new country, Costa Rica. Those Nicas sure played a trick on me, but hey, I made it on time to pay my fine, and also, I like my face all sweaty, awkward and weird. Don't be afraid to listen to your dreams. It is until then that we start to live. It took me a while to convince my friend Chuck to take this picture with his phone, he said I was "goofing around too much". That might be true. But I'm glad I convinced him. This picture means a lot for me. It reminds me -and it always will- of that time of my life when I was truly free. When I was living my dream. All I ever wanted was to travel, to explore the world. And there I was, surrounded with like-minded people. Hiking an active volcano without a guide while tripping on acid. Freedom. I couldn't stop thinking about how happy I was. Is this real? The acid was all over my thoughts now. Colours were bright, nature was alive. I kept looking to my wrinkled hands, I didn't want it to end. Then again, I could make that possible. I've just turned twenty seven and the pair of broken shoes I was wearing weren't even mine.
