There was only one good thing that could be said for the Battle Creek bus station - it had a little hole in the wall diner in it that had the best coffee and manwichs in the whole city - even better than the ones Ally had made for him. The place was trashy and filled up with junkie's and other riff raffs that either hung around the place or were just passing through - most decent people who were unfortunate enough to be stranded there waiting for their bus to arrive stayed in the lobby where they had a semi decent chance of staying safe. Kai Anderson was neither of those types of people - he was just a local stopping off from some coffee and food on his way home. He was rarely found himself in that area of town but since he was he took full advantage of the opportunity. He didn't even bat an eyelash at the crack whores that offered him a good time or the junkies begging for spare change so they could go and shoot up - he walked right in as if he owned the place just as he did no matter where he was.
He was just about to go into the coffee shop when he spotted a girl huddled up in the corner with her arms wrapped around her overly thin body, shivering - sure there were plenty of hard luck cases there but this girl wasn't one of them. Kai saw something in her and that was what made him decide to walk over to her. "You look like you've been through hell. Here..." He removed his jacket and held it out to her. "Wear this. It will warm you up." He had on a long-sleeved button-down shirt - he'd stay warm enough without it. Extending a hand he offered to help her up from the floor. "Let me buy you a coffee and some hot soup. Or if you are interested this place makes a really good manwich.” She looked like she could use something good to eat - hell, she looked like she could use a lot of things but that was a good start. "This place also has some of the only good coffee you can find around here. Forget Starbucks. You’ll never want any of that trash again after you try this.” Not like the girl looked like she could ever afford an expensive corporate chain like that.
