It wasn’t unusual for Briar to be stressed, but recently she had become overwhelmed with anxiety. It had been a while since she last had a drink or smoke and found herself resorting to things such as stress baking and cleaning, which is why she was able to let out a sigh of relief as Wes agreed to meet her at their usual spot. Briar grabbed the ounce she had stashed away in the drawer by her bed before heading out the door. She stuffed the substance in her jacket pocket as she walked down the street towards the alley. The wind blew her hair astray as the brunette approached the usual spot behind the bookstore. She sat on one of the many crates in the alleyway, twirling a small hotpink lighter between her fingertips. She strummed her fingers on the side of the crate as she waited anxiously for Wes in the small, abandoned alley.
