it’s crazy how much easier it is to work on ritalin. gonna go with the sims analogy that i’ve always avoided using with a therapist or anyone who doesn’t play sims but i think this is the right target audience

in the sims your sim has a fun meter that depletes when they do work (skills building usually, cleaning, an actual job, parenting etc) and goes up when they do fun things (lots of things) 

if fun is too low your sim will refuse to work, and in some sims games their mood will drop or emotion state will change. you need to do something fun to refill that meter, and then your sim can work.

i always felt like that’s how people worked, sort of. like you need to take a break to be able to keep working longer or equivalently if you don’t break and just work to you stop you will be able to achieve less work in total because your fun meter drained all the way to 0 or whatever

i never felt like i worked that way. for me, either work didn’t impact the fun bar at all, or the fun ball could never be filled, or there was some other need that i needed to fill to start working. taking a break didn’t help me, in fact it usually derailed me hopelessly

but now...it feels like i’m normal

my thoughts don’t feel different 

physically i feel the same (well my appetite’s a bit lowered but that’s a side effect)

but it’s like...whatever the threshold for starting was before, it’s like 10 times lower. now i an jsut work...and just take a break, and then work, and it’s just...incredible.

look i’m not a doctor and i’m weary about prescribing based on literally only my anecdotal experience. but seriously, if you feel like you’re “lazy” or like you hate work, or feel like you just can’t work like you should, i would recommend pursuing an add diagnosis or at least talking to a psychologist/iatrist about it.
