“She had no hope, but she had this boy. And I think she kind of had her hopes in him in a very fucked up way. Several fucked up ways!” - Jennifer Ehle discussing Gabrielle and Lestat
mind you book lestat saw masc gabi for the first time and wanted to fuck her so bad it made him look stupid
Besides the sheer madness, cruelty, and absolute certainty that she was right, Akasha also had this incredibly frustrating childlike innocence in the books. Even in that brief scene, Sheila managed to capture all of it. She was amazing.
I'm really curious to see who they'll cast as Maharet and Mekare. I know Akasha is the queen for a lot of fans, but for me, the twins are the true queens. I hated Akasha in the books. Maybe the show will take her character in a different direction and I'll end up liking her.
So far, they haven't shown Armand's attempted rape of Lestat, and it's possible they'll cut that storyline entirely. That makes me wonder how they're going to handle Lestat and Akasha's relationship in the later seasons. Because in the books, Akasha is basically Magnus 2.0 for Lestat. He denies it and never fully recognizes it, and of course he insists that he loves her and mourns her after she's gone. But what she does to him is violence. I'm really curious to see where the show takes their storyline.
Especially because, even in just those couple of minutes, Sam and Sheila had incredible chemistry. It's such a interesting terrifying dynamic in the books. On the other hand, there are still people who deny what Gabriella does, or what Magnus did. So it's honestly a little scary to think about how some fans will react if the show keeps that storyline intact.
Sooooooooo…ahahaha…🥴

mama's boy
PSA:
Ahead of S3 and a possible casting announcement for Gabrielle at SDCC, I’d like to remind folks that the ship name for Lestat/Gabrielle is not “Gabistat” or “Lesrielle”…
…it’s Lioncest.
Because if it’s not from the Auvergne region of France, it’s just sparkling incest. ✨
Gabrielle de Lioncourt, the boy, the vampire..
