AU Faith and teen Jenny meet in jail (let's not ask why)
1. they bond over refusing to talk to anyone at all. for faith, itâs because sheâs still a little panicked and she doesnât want to show weakness. for jenny, itâs because sheâs very disinterested in whatâs going on around her. faith kinda likes that jennyâs quiet and doesnât ask questions and mostly ignores her, so they sit together in the prison cafeteria
2. for some reason jenny is convinced that she can Protect faith??? she doesnât talk for the first week of their weird sitting-together thing, but one day faith starts a fight with a girl over something really stupid just because she can, and then that tiny brunette faithâs been sitting next to steps in between them, socks faith in the jaw, and all but drags her back over to their cafeteria bench while railing at her for being an idiot. faith forgets all about the fight because what the fuck? did she just get the weird quiet chick to talk? how did she do that
3. jennyâs doing time because of something that happened to her boyfriend. thatâs all faith can get out of her. of course faith tells her all about the deputy mayor and everything because itâs weirdly nice to have someone whoâs not being judgy and angry and telling her she doesnât care enough. jenny seems to get being judged more than anyone faith knows
4. they blackmail a few people into letting them share a cell, and faith still has nightmares, but jenny holds her tightly and tells her sheâll be okay. itâs weird, because jennyâs younger than her, but faith feels kind of like jennyâs looking out for her, which makes her panicky and nervous since if something happens to jenny she doesnât know what sheâll do
5. jennyâs really sweet?? like, in a weird way. sheâll say lots of cryptic snarky things and make latin references faith doesnât Get, but on her birthday, faith gets a knife. sheâs not even sure how jenny managed to get a knife. she knows jenny knows she stabbed a guy, and she knows jenny knows theyâre sharing a cell, and she knows this is jennyâs way of saying i trust you.Â

now I'm curious about what the fanfic was
i mean pretty much all my fanfics are written to spite fanfics that write jenny as a one-dimensional character so itâs something of a blanket statement
(but there was one i wrote that was set in school hard to spite a different fic set in school hard where jenny was written as being aware of giles always being ready to put buffy first but not accepting of it, which...i just canât see as the case)
