Why do you hate tomatoes so much? /gen
Great question! Iāve always been this way since I could think for myself. Even when I was of the age where pizza was the best thing everā¢ļø (so like 4-10) I would have to force it down because I couldnāt stand it but my mom didnāt want to be embarrassed by the kid who doesnāt like pizza. When I was old enough to go to parties on my own (like be dropped off) I would just eat the crust everyone left behind so I wouldnāt be hungry.
I canāt stand the smell, especially in pasta sauces. ESPECIALLY spaghetti.
I donāt like that the seeds are super slimey.
I canāt eat them raw, they make me nauseous.
Ketchup is absolutely fucking disgusting.
I also have a knack for picking them out. There has been plenty of times where someone has made food with some form of tomato in it and either forgot that I donāt like tomatoes or didnāt know, so they didnāt tell me, and I immediately figured it out. I remember one time someone made chicken katsu and didnāt tell me what it was, and I immediately clocked it in one bite.
My roommate has gotten good about rinsing out his tomato dishes before I go to clean the dishes (one of my house chores) because I hate the smell so much.
I was made fun of a lot when I was a kidāboth by kids and by adults for not liking tomatoes (specifically spaghetti and pizza).
And itās not like I havenāt TRIED to like them. Iāve tried multiple times over my 35 years to like them. We have a garden and Iāve had a fresh-from-garden tomato and could NOT stand it.
Itās all kind of a moot point now, as I canāt have acidic foods anyway because of my recently discovered autoimmune disease.
Just to be clear I WISH I liked tomatoes. I really, really do, but I just cannot get behind them.
