—————————————————————-
It was a rare quiet afternoon at the Fairy Tail Guild hall — or at least, relatively quiet. Chairs were still overturned in one corner (thanks to Natsu Dragneel), and someone had set something small on fire earlier (also Natsu), but for once, no one was actively fighting.
That alone made Lucy Heartfilia suspicious.
“You’re being weird,” she said, narrowing her eyes at Loke, who was lounging across the table like he didn’t have a care in the world.
“Weird? Me?” Loke placed a hand dramatically over his chest. “Lucy, you wound me. I’m always perfectly charming.”
“That’s exactly the problem,” she shot back. “You’re too calm. What are you planning?”
Loke’s grin widened — slow, mischievous, and honestly a little dangerous.
“Oh, nothing much,” he said smoothly. “Just thinking about how tense you’ve been lately.”
Lucy crossed her arms. “I am not—”
“You are,” he interrupted, standing up and circling her like a cat that had already decided its next move. “You’ve been stressing over missions, rent, guild chaos… honestly, it’s exhausting just watching you.”
“I’m fine,” she insisted, though her voice betrayed a hint of nerves as he stepped closer.
“Mm. I don’t think so.”
Before she could react, Loke moved — quick and effortless — catching her wrists and pinning them gently but firmly against her sides.
“Loke!” Lucy yelped. “What are you—hey, wait—!”
“I think,” he said, leaning in just enough to make her fluster, “you need to relax.”
“That’s not how you—”
She cut herself off with a sharp gasp as his fingers lightly traced along her sides.
“L–Loke—!”
“Oh?” His eyes sparkled. “Sensitive, are we?”
“Don’t you dare—!”
Too late.
His fingers danced across her ribs in quick, teasing motions, and Lucy burst into laughter almost instantly.
“WAHAIT—LOKE—STOHOHP—!”
“There it is,” he said smugly, clearly enjoying himself. “That’s a much better sound than all that complaining.”
“I DOH—HAHA—NOT—COMPLAIN—!”
“Really?” he teased, switching to her waist, his touch precise and relentless. “Because I recall quite a bit of ‘why is rent so high’ and ‘why does Natsu eat everything in my fridge.’”
Lucy tried to twist away, but Loke adjusted effortlessly, keeping her right where he wanted her.
“LOKE, I SWEAR—!” she gasped between laughter, her knees starting to give out. “I’LL—HAHA—SUMMON SOMEONE—!”
“Oh?” he chuckled. “Go ahead. I’d love an audience.”
She glared at him through watery eyes, which only made him laugh more.
“You’re evil,” she accused.
“And you’re ticklish,” he shot back.
His fingers skittered higher, just under her ribs, and Lucy shrieked with laughter, completely losing whatever composure she had left.
“OHOHOKAY—OKAY—! I’M RELAHAXED—!”
“Hmm,” Loke pretended to consider, though his hands didn’t stop. “I don’t know. You might need a little more convincing.”
“LOKE—!”
Across the guild hall, a few heads had turned.
“Is that Lucy?” Gray Fullbuster asked, raising a brow.
“Yep,” Erza Scarlet replied calmly, sipping her tea. “Loke is helping her de-stress.”
Gray blinked. “That’s… one way to do it.”
Back at the table, Lucy was barely standing now, her laughter uncontrollable as Loke finally slowed his movements.
“Still tense?” he asked lightly.
She collapsed forward against the table, breathing hard and glaring at him though there was no real heat behind it.
“I hate you,” she said.
“You love me,” he corrected smoothly.
Lucy rolled her eyes, but a small smile crept onto her face anyway.
“…Okay,” she admitted after a moment. “Maybe I feel a little better.”
“Of course you do,” Loke said, brushing imaginary dust off his sleeve. “You’re welcome.”
She pointed a finger at him. “Don’t think this means you can just do that whenever you want.”
He leaned in slightly, that same teasing grin returning.
“Oh, I wouldn’t dream of it,” he said.
Pause.
“…Unless you need it.”
Lucy groaned.
Somewhere in the background, Natsu shouted about food again.
And just like that, the chaos of Fairy Tail resumed but Lucy, at least, felt a little lighter.
