A Family Affair || Leone & Rodrick
Despite his half-hearted attempts to get some semblance of sleep the night before, Rodrick had failed spectacularly, sliding into the carriage with a yawn. Leone sidled in soon after.
He'd managed to stave away the majority of the impending panic their journey to Winterhaven had brought that night, but something still didn't sit right in his stomach. The distractions to be found within his beloved books could only alleviate so much. Rodrick set his lips in a tight line, hands balled into fists at his side, as the carriage set off.
It was only one day, he told himself. Everything would go as planned and there'd be absolutely no cause for concern. Rodrick couldn't restrain the tremor that gripped his leg, however, his foot sporadically landing against the wooden flooring with a dull thud.
Shifting his arm so it rested securely over the offending limb, stilling its movement, Rodrick groaned softly beneath his breath. "Apologies," he murmured, though he instantly regretted it. Surely he'd only made more of an issue of it than if he hadn't said anything at all. Jaw clenching, Rodrick kept his eyes trained forward, praying Leone would simply let it be.
