Warning: Some blood is mentioned, but nothing too graphic.
Meira sighed as she trailed slightly behind her parents. The three of them were walking down the street, having just bought some groceries from the store. It was fairly close to where they lived, so they had simply walked.
The teen could hear her parents chatting as they walked, but she tuned it out for the most part. It didnât really interest her, they were just talking about the weather, and her mother was complaining about something a friend had said to her.
They were still a few blocks from home when it happened. A sense of dread sent a chill down Meiraâs spine, and she glanced around only to realize that there were no other people in sight besides her and her parents.
She looked forward again, wanting to say something to her parents, but before she could, a man with blue hair suddenly landed right in front of them. It seemed he had dropped down from a roof above.
The man lifted his head, revealing bright blue eyes with a wild light in them. They first focused on Meiraâs father, then slid over to her mother. âWell, well, wellâŚlookie who I found~â He purred, his voice icy cold.
Meiraâs father stepped slightly to the side, putting himself in front of his wife. âWho are you? What do you want from us?â He asked sharply, an edge of fear in his voice.
Blue-hair gave a quick, cold laugh, his lips turned upward with amusement. âOh, but I think you already know.â He chuckled. âThe people I work for have found out what youâre doing, and they are not happy. They've ordered my toâŚeliminate you.â
Meira felt her heart rate quicken. Who did this man work for? What had her parents done to anger them? What did he mean by âeliminate?â
Before anyone could say another word, there was a sudden breeze swirling around them. The blue-haired man inclined his head toward Meiraâs father, and suddenly the breeze picked up. There was a slicing sound, and blood spattered the sidewalk as Meira watched her father fall. Meiraâs mother screamed, taking a step back, but with another slicing sound, she had fallen as well.
The man looked down at the bodies, smiling as if admiring a work of art. Then he looked up at Meira. She wanted to run, but she was frozen with shock and fear. This couldnât be happening. The manâs smile faltered as he watched her. âThey didnât tell me anything about a kidâŚâ He muttered, putting his hands in his pockets. âOh well. Sheâs seen too much now, anyway.â
Meiraâs eyes widened as he stepped over the bodies of her parents, toward her. Her mind screamed at her to run, but her body refused to cooperate. The man seemed to sense her fear, grinning. âDonât worry hun, itâll be over before you know it.â He purred.
Before she could respond, a loud whooshing blasted her eardrums, and a millisecond later a horrible pain slashed diagonally across her chest. She let out a choked cry as she was pushed backwards. Her head hit the pavement with a crack, and her vision blurred into blackness.
--
Leon smiled as he stepped back to gaze at the three bodies. Beautifully tragic, he thought. He didnât even spare another glance in Meiraâs direction as he walked away, melting into a dark alley.
It was lucky for her that he didnât, for a couple minutes later, the girl awoke, groaning in pain as she tried to sit up, only to lay back down as a splitting pain lanced through her whole body. She wanted to just lay there forever, but she knew that wasnât an option. She had to get out of there, in case that man came backâŚ
Ignoring the pain, she sat up quickly. Bad move. The world seemed to spin, and she felt a little sick. Brushing it aside the best she could, she began to crawl toward the two bodies nearby. Already blood was pooling around them, and as she got closer, she could see the gashes on their throats. Looking down at herself, she saw a similar one on her chest. She grimaced and zipped up her hoodie, covering it up for the moment. The urge to throw up increased with each passing moment.
She took a few moments to look at the faces of her parents on more time. Reaching over, she gently brushed her fingers over their eyes, closing them forever.
She waited, expecting tears to come, but they didnât. It had all happened so suddenly, without warning, that her body was still too shocked to react yet.
Shaking her head, she slowly rose to her feet, swaying so harshly that she had to lean on the wall of a nearby building the steady herself. Casting on last look at her parents, she began to hurriedly walk away, still leaning heavily on the wall.
She was on her own for now, and she needed to get to safety. Home. Once she was there, she could finally restâŚ

Characters in this story: Meira - Meira's Father - Meira's Mother - Leon
Side Note: Leon's power is Razor Wind, if you were curious. It was a bit hard to describe from Meira's point of view, since she had no idea what it was, and I feel like I didn't do it justice. OTL
