Caius graduated from a prestigious private school where homophobia ran rampant and, really, no one did anything to stop it. He'd spend a lot of time being harassed by (and promptly ignoring) the resident asshole and school bully. That is, at least, until one day the bully cornered Caius in the art room after class. There was a small scuffle and one thing led to another, and soon the resident homophobic asshole was begging Caius to jack him off in the boiler room, a fact that Caius held over the douchebag's head until the day they graduated.

Caius spent a lot of his childhood feeling incredibly unwanted. His parents had a shitload of money and they were often out of the house hosting something or another in their massively expensive second home, leaving Cai alone with his nanny. He never felt quite good enough, never special enough or well behaved enough to get their attention and his bad behavior, likely triggered by his obvious ADHD, earned him little more than disdain from them the older he got. But at least when he was acting out, they were looking at him. That has likely paid a huge role in the way he acts and sees himself today: largely inadequate and invisible unless he's doing something stupid.

Once, when Caius was a little boy, he woke up from a dream sitting on the roof outside of his bedroom window. He couldn't remember how he got there or why, but he's spent the rest of his life at least half convinced he'd been abducted by aliens. He's only ever admitted that to Leo, who he hopes was too drunk to remember him saying it at all.
