yeah, it would be good in an artistic sense to have those IPs revived in order to give the rest of the industry a bit of a spark in that area, for sure. whether it’s a good business decision is another thing, as, if you think about it, only the more long-time fans would know the significance of that action, and a general audience (generic parents, 13-year-olds) might not be able to distinguish between them and AAA offerings by other companies
that's true as well. though i think in the case of metroid and f-zero the lower ESRB/PEGI rating would be more appealing to them, as i would assume most parents wouldn't want to get their kids a game thats rated M

Nintendo’s audience is extremely wide, while the “gamer” audience that Microsoft and Sony make games for is more limited than one may expect. as well, nobody else caters to the particular demographics Nintendo does particularly in a worldwide sense rather than focusing mostly on NA, so it’s good for them to keep that focus to maintain monopoly instead of making less successful forays into markets cornered by the rest of the major games companies
its good to keep that market yea but they should at least try to branch out even a little bit. like i see franchises like metroid and f-zero that appeal to that more """mature""" demographic and those are very far and few.
on the other end of the spectrum tho i think MS/sony followers see shits been going poorly there too, a lot of samey games with shitty dev practices that are making that scene stink up quite a bit. if i were nintendo id try to be their saving grace by diversifying their pool of games by reviving those more "mature" franchises like, again, metroid and f-zero

that’s… better then, yea. i mean even past that undertale still has a lot of earthbound references in it to the point where it’s fairly uncomfortable.
the Gaming Theorem video unintentionally compiles a huge chunk of the obvious earthbound connections (and the game starting life AS an earthbound hack only pushes it). i honestly don’t really mind references, but at this point it feels less like references and more like “THIS GAME IS REALLY IN THE WORLD OF EARTHBOUND… SERIOUSLY… YOU JUST HAVE TO FIND THE CONNECTIONS”. it almost sounds fanfic-y. but its real there is really a starman symbol on papyrus
it’s kinda like if there was an indie platformer with a bunch of not so subtle callbacks to mario only in the end to find out there’s a not so subtle drop that you were in the mushroom kingdom this whole time. defeats the purpose of having an original game concept and world almost entirely and is also a pretty crummy way of dodging copyright
