Now, everything is silent, trapped between the ashes that continue to fall and the scars in the Earth caused by earthquakes. My hometown’s heartbeat has been silenced, and with that, the businesses, the cars, and the people. I used to want this silence, but not like this. In this time of grey stillness and fracturing foundations, I want nothing more than to hear my people’s voices, lives, and hearts. I want to hear their souls, spirits, hopes, and dreams because I hadn’t realized how much I grew to miss it.

In the coming times, my people will return. They will walk into our town and fill it with love and passion. They will clean the ashes as the doors of businesses open. They will heal the wounds in our earth as the cars drive through with aid. They will continue to be the people who will resurrect Lemery from silence and echo their unified heartbeat.
