I thought about you when I heard. I hoped you were safe. I thought about a lot if people I know in Sydney.
Awww thank you so much! You're so sweet!
Yeah it's an unfortunate scenario. This morning Pitt Street Mall Westfield was having evacuations and had security out the front of it at maybe 9am, but I was still able to enter from another entrance, so maybe one section of it was cut off. But it's like if something actually had happened then I would've been caught in the middle of it. The staff in the bathroom just shrugged it off, like you normally would if you heard something happening, you know? Like meh, it'll sort itself out.
I think shortly after 10am most of the CBD was either in lock down or was being evacuated from Martin Place up to Circular Quay, but we were in Town Hall and were within the 1km radius and didn't get evacuated or put into lock down. The building I was in is pretty secure, so it would've been fine.
My boss reckons the terrorists fucked up because of the positioning of the cafe, the cops are able to track them if they leave or try to escape, as well as that they have phones on them which are traceable. So it seems like something small just got blown out of proportion and here we are.Â
But yeah it's just fucked. Like it's one of those situations where if you had gone right that day or been delayed or sick you wouldn't be in the hostage situation but if those things hadn't have happened you'd be in there.
