Hi,i have a question about Hakuryuu's origin. In the manga we know that Hakkai found Hakuryuu in the forest and nursed the little dragon back to health before the journey but i am wondering if Hakuryuu comes from Hotou castle,since he is a creature created in an experimental “combination of science and youkai magic” (he also has crimson eyes like Hotou's dragons).
This is actually very interesting and not something I initially thought of, but you’re right. He does look pretty similar to the dragons Kougaiji and Co tend to ride, and he is a mix of magic and science. It also would make sense how Ensui knew of him and was able to place the bomb inside of him back when that OVA came out years ago.
Though I could just be looking too deeply into it.
I don’t think many know of his origins, but it’s also pretty much confirmed that Goujun is Hakuryuu, so he may have just been reborn as a dragon and maybe found by Gyokumen’s scientists and experimented on? What a terrible thought.
We also would have to take into account how far away Houtou castle is in comparison to where Hakkai may have been at the time he found Hakuryuu. If he escaped, he was traveling for awhile to get away.
