Gallery of the Week - Leica Store SF
San Francisco, Ca
The Leica Store in San Francisco is on Bush at Grand Ave in San Francisco, Ca. It is more than a place to purchase a camera. They have a beautiful space to showcase photos by emerging and established photographers that builds on the Bay Area’s long tradition of famous and lesser known photographers who have made local and California scenes iconic worldwide. __ Leica SF has five yearly exhibits, artist lecture series, workshops and books. Over the time we have viewed photos of San Francisco scenes by photographers like Fred Lyon and Jim Marshall. __ If you take photos of street art possibly that interest translates over to other genres, a desire to improve your shots or a curiosity to see what professional photographers with a traditional camera have done and are doing. __ There is a show titled Bystander - Street Photography Exhibition. Opening June 7th with a reception from 6-8pm __ Check out Leica and read more below about the show http://gallery.leicastoresf.com/ __ The exhibition, inspired by the landmark street photography book, Bystander: A History of Street Photography by curator Colin Westerbeck and photographer Joel Meyerowitz, examines the genre of street photography through the eyes of nearly fifty photographers. The exhibition will comprise early iconic prints alongside recent work by artists who are actively photographing on the streets today in San Francisco and abroad.Â
