A chromophone has been created as part of the #dbcxrebrick challenge! I got home from a good band rehearsal and had this idea for an instrument. You start playing it by blowing air into the orange mouthpiece. After taking some turns to increase the length of the instrument, the air goes into the colored valve section. Here, different valve combinations change not only the pitch of the sound but also it’s color. It’s possible to combine lemon meringue, narwhal blue, glowing kale, and pink into many different sounds and colors. After the color mixing is complete, the next step is into the cactus attachment. This segment combs the air with the cactus spines, giving the sound a smoother quality. Finally, the sound and colors come out the bluebell, where the performer’s work can been heard and seen. This was a super fun build, not only because of the creativity but also because of the challenge of having so many Studs Not On Top sections with a limited number of parts to accomplish this.
