Legolas: ……… that is not my lived experience.

“You did what?” Legolas’ heart felt like it was going to force itself through his ribcage as it rapidly pounded in his chest, words not able to describe the sheer panic and frustration he felt in this moment. 

“I will not repeat myself, ionneg (Son),” Thranduil said calmly as he swirled his goblet of fine red wine. 

“I am in love with Tauriel. I will not marry some random person you decided was good for me!” Legolas shouted, voice firm with confidence that his display of rebellion would make his father change his mind. 

“Might I remind you that Tauriel is not your soulmate, and will never be.” Thranduil stood, “She does not have a matching mark, she is but a fling that you will forget.” Thranduil finished, his tone causing a deafening silence in the room. There would be no room for arguing, not against this. 

“How long do I have?” Legolas questioned, resigned yet sadness was displayed across his entire being.

“They will arrive next week. “
