đâ° âTickled Out of Timeâ
(Lee!Dyle | Ler!Dandy)
It was late evening in the Gardenview Train Center. The soft ticking of clocks filled the air, rhythmic and steady, the way Dyle liked it. Everything was in order. Every second, every chime, every polished surfaceâperfectly aligned.
Or so he thought.
âDyyyyyyle~!â came a singsong voice from the hallway, followed by the click-click of fancy shoes and a swirl of color.
Dyleâs brow tickedâjust barely. âAh. Dandy.â
âThe one and only!â Dandy announced, striking a pose with his hat tipped forward. âHowâs my favorite timekeeper doing, hm?â
âBusy,â Dyle replied shortly, turning back to his station. âThe train schedule requires precision. Distractions cause delay.â
Dandy gasped dramatically, clutching his chest. âDistractions?! You wound me, Mr. Tick-Tock! Iâm not a distractionâIâm a delight!â
Dyle gave a long sigh. âYou are⌠something.â
âOhhh, thatâs it,â Dandy said, grinning mischievously. âYouâre wound up tighter than your gears, my friend.â
âI am functioning at peak efficiency.â
âYeah?â Dandy leaned against the control panel, smirk widening. âThen whyâs your jaw twitching every time I talk?â
âIâIt is notâ!â
âGotcha~!â
And before Dyle could react, Dandy darted forward and poked his side.
The effect was immediate.
âEHEHHEHâ!!â Dyle jolted back, clutching his ribs with wide eyes. âWhâwhat was that?!â
âOhhh, donât tell me the ever-professional Dyle is ticklish?â Dandyâs grin turned wickedly playful.
âD-Dandy, donât youâd-do notâ!â
Too late.
Dandyâs fingers fluttered right back to the watchâs sides, gentle but merciless, tracing along the golden frame and down to where the clock face met his torso. Dyleâs prim composure shattered instantly into breathy laughter.
âDAHAHANDYâ!! STOHOHOP!! THAHAHAT ISâ!!â
âAdorable? Hilarious? Therapeutic?â Dandy beamed. âAll of the above, Iâd say!â
âYOHOHOUâNAHHAHAHAUGHâ!!â
âOh, you laugh funny! Câmon, Mr. Serious, let it out! The crowdâs waitinâ for that smile!â
Dyle twisted, face glowing brighter than his rainbow tie as Dandy scribbled along his ribs and stomach. The laughter that bubbled up was sharp and genuine, echoing beautifully in the metal train hall.
âDANDYYYYY!! AHAHAHâSTOHOHOP, IâLLâHHEHEHEâDROP THE TRAINS!!â
âThey can be fashionably late!â Dandy teased, wigglinâ his fingers under Dyleâs chin. âOh ho, there it is! That grinâlook atcha!â
âTHIHIHIS ISâIHINDECOROUSâ!!â
âFancy word for youâre giggling like a school kid, huh?â
Dyle finally slumped against him, laughter falling into soft, embarrassed chuckles. His voice was warm, even if a little breathless. âYou are insufferable.â
âAnd you, sir,â Dandy said with a flourish, âare officially off the clock!â
ââŚYouâre impossible,â Dyle muttered, hiding a small smile behind his gloved hand.
âAhhh, thereâs the real you,â Dandy said, resting a hand on his shoulder. âNow thatâs a smile worth keeping.â
ââŚThank you,â Dyle murmured quietly after a beat, the faintest hint of sincerity under his tone.
âAnytime, tick-tock,â Dandy said, tipping his hat. âAfter allâwhat are friends for, if not for keeping your gears in motion?â
Dyle chuckled softly, shaking his head. âJust donât⌠make this a habit.â
âNo promises!â
