Once again I'm reminded that context is everything.
Seeing the elation gifs first, with The Kiss, it was the sweetest, most tender feeling ever. I was over the moon!
The actual episode... The whole flirting on the balcony scene, the glances during The Kiss, it all felt so awkward and cringy (tho fun too), it solidified for me that Marinette is straight up sprinting away from her feelings for Adrien and desperately clinging to what feels for her to be safest right now, Chat Noir. Because she's been through a lot with him, she feels like she truly knows him and that's why she says his mask is unimportant, because maybe she thinks her love for chat noir can never blind her the way her love for Adrien did.
It doesn't last long, her near akumatization proves her so wrong, she's not safe with Chat Noir either. (THO IF U REALLY THINK ABOUT IT SHE WAS, SHE WAS BOTH TIMES BECAUSE ADRICHAT WAS THERE FOR HER TO KEEP HER FROM FALLING ALL THE WAY)
She's left alone wondering if there will ever be anyone to love her.
But her problem isn't actually the boys, it's herself. Becoming Ladybug, then the guardian, it was always whether she could rise up to the challenge, whether she could trust herself, her judgement, her instincts.
And now she's off her game.
Her love happened to be (in her vision) a catalyst for two of her greatest fears materializing: losing the miraculous (Adrien) and (almost) being akumatized (Chat Noir).
So even if she'll finally find a boy that will love her, it won't solve anything for her. Not until she'll learn to sit down with her complicated feelings. It's Kiss Kiss, Marinette!!
