if their duty is to bother her,  hers is to stand wholly dignified and unaffected,  in every way the stoic queen she is meant to be.  but all of odin’s children have always struggled with duty,  and hel is no exception. she’s betrayed by the way the corners of her mouth turn up ever so slightly, though the fact that she hasn’t yet drawn a blade on her younger sibling reveals the same thing.  she’s fond of loki,  even though she knows it’ll be the death of both of them. 

“ loki, ” she whispers,  staring straight ahead,  barely moving her lips. “ what in the nine do you think you’re doing? have you mistaken me for thor? ”

she  likes  to  talk  shit  about  people  ...     but  with  her  animals.     it’s  her  guilty  pleasure  to  roast  people  with  her  goats  KDSJFKW

Working with the Avengers (he has never presumed to count himself among them, though many have insisted he should be) over the years has taught him that the universe is a varied, wondrous place, full of people with all manner of notions of propriety.  It has led to some crossing of wires from time to time, where what is considered polite in one corner of the cosmos may not be so in another.  He can write those things off.

This, however.  This is not one of those things.

The only outward sign he’s even taken notice is the way he pauses - he’s only come to offer tea or coffee, as is standard with guests.

“I have known Thor for many years,” he begins, mentally rescinding that offer of a drink.  “He was, as I’m sure you are aware, one of the founders of this lauded group and the reason that those he extends hospitality to, so do I.”
