3 teachings by one of my high school teacher!
In high school, my English literature teacher used to repeat 3 things most of the time. But at that time, I was not mature and wise enough to understand it.
As a college student now, improving myself, paying attention to things like these, becoming a more calm and peaceful person, those teachings have started making sense to me.
Those 3 things were:
1. First step is always the hardest:
While explaining many lessons and briefing students about the characters of the story, she used to say that "you see, the first step is always the hardest to take, once you're able to show courage to initiate, then your journey begins on its own and take you to places".
It is obvious that we always procrastinate and fear to just begin the things which are important and good for us.
2. Sleep is the ultimate blessing:
She used to repeat this phrase quite a lot of times. She told us "if you are able to sleep peacefully, god has showered the ultimate blessings on you, it means your actions are justified, you have a good soul and mind, otherwise many people have to spend restless nights changing their positions and waking up full of frustrations and restlessness".
It makes complete sense, we know that children are pure and kind, never have bad intentions, and thus, able to sleep so peacefully at night and wake up cheerfully. When we do all the right tasks in a day with our full potential, are able to help others, show kindness, we have a good and sound night's sleep, and wake up fresh to kickstart our day.
Otherwise, adults and sometimes teenagers (we see in many films and series) try to numb themselves to sleep through alcohol, drugs, porn, and masturbation. They are not able to sleep, they don't experience rest and balance. This suggests that they are not able to do the right things which satisfy their mind, soul, and heart.
Now, I think, I know, I am doing the right things as I am able to sleep peacefully most of the time, I am experiencing some rest and calm and see, I have become so philosophical and spiritual, understanding all these worthy things and sharing here on my blog.
3. All the frustration is because of the dreams higher than your potential
At first, when my teacher spoke these words, I was just like, is she dumb, she is suggesting students should not explore and work up to their potential and be mediocre only. It didn't make sense at all.
But now, I am wise, I understand the deeper meaning. She was not suggesting that one should not work up to their potential, instead, her words meant that if you are working up to your full potential, you will experience a lot of frustrations in the process, if you are complaining then you should reconsider your dream and goal and see if it's worth that or not.
So much wisdom in her words, so much knowledge was around me, for 2 years she taught me and I was not able to reflect upon these things. But, still, I am glad that it did not take too long for me, I am in my second year of college and able to process all these insights.
I am just so grateful for everything that Universe has provided me with, exposed me with, and pray to continue showering these blessings and abundance on me.
Thank You Universe, Thank You So Much For Everything.
Peace!
