VANCOUVER β Four former Vancouver mayors have endorsed a coalition calling for an end to pot prohibition in Canada that they blame for rampant gang violence.
Larry Campbell, Mike Harcourt, Sam Sullivan and Philip Owen all signed an open letter to politicians in B.C. Wednesday claiming a change in the law will reduce gang violence.
The former mayors support the position of the Stop the Violence BC coalition, which recently released a survey showing most B.C. residents favour an end to the current marijuana laws.
The letter says βmarijuana prohibition is β without question β a failed policy.β
People are way too paranoid about marijuana.
Seriously. I've watched two documentaries today and the opponents are saying things that are either very paranoid or easily fixable with sensible regulation.
The things they say that are socially harmful, like violence or things like that, can be said to be just as harmful if not more for alcohol and tobacco. In fact, both of those are worse for you physically than pot.
The thought that pot can cause a heart attack (it was brought up in a documentary), this is also a risk for running.
People are just far too paranoid and have bought too much in to the propaganda.
