we admire the beauty of fallen leaves, but rarely do take hold of them and grant them passage on our journey. there is no home for the living in the land of the dead and as much as we like to hold onto the leaves because they are pretty and fun to look at, we need to realise they are no longer ours to carry. much like the trees in fall we need to learn to let go of the dead things in our lives because the things of the past are meant to stay there. sure, there are days when we can honour that beauty and look back with fondness, but we must never forget that being fully present in each given moment is the only way to look back without regret… knowing that in each moment we gave life our full attention. only then are we afforded the chance to look back on our lives without the urge to try and salvage a lifetime of memories with “what ifs”. now is our chance.
