What did Elidibius fail at? Let me back up, Lahabrea was the Speaker. And thus he was, he announced the end of an Era, spoke of Zodiark and the power of Ultima. Emet-Selch was the Architect. He built, possibly the Ronka, Eulmore, Allaghan, and Garlean Empires. Elidibius is the Emissary. A being chosen to go forth on a diplomatic mission. The fact that he is suvived Amaurot but is never diplomatic to me is failing at the title he is given, he is a failed Emissary in more than one way, perhaps?
Perhaps! But I get the feeling we’ll see more of him, just as we did with Emet-Selch, in future patches. He’s obviously been an Emissary to the Garleans (despite Emet building that nation), at the least. But they’ve (Ascians) lived a thousand thousand of ‘our’ lifetimes...there’s really no telling what all he’s gotten up to in that time, or what lies ahead. Though it’s gonna be REAL hard to be an Emissary when he’s the only one left.
