Cale truly thinks he's trash. He does a load of good for everyone, but in his mind it's all for himself (himself and his people).

That is why I love the few glimpses we get from other people's perspective on him - Rosalyn and Archie noting how he gets along with everyone regardless of race and creed; Choi Han mentioning that the face Cale makes while using his shield shows his true feelings; Ron continuously doting on that puppy master of his - all lovely.

But arguably the nicest and most honest thing we see of Cale is probably the most random thing, too. It's when he, the kids and Choi Han are about to go and pose as 'The Real Arm' with the bandits and Cale tells Choi Han that he just wants the Western Continent to be peaceful.

We only get this once. We never see be Cale this calm and this honest again, it's just this one time and it's arguably one of the most beautiful scenes - both for the characters and visually.

Maybe he reminisced about her as he trained Beacrox when he was younger, both because of his son's choice of weapon and the fire in his eyes.

Maybe he reminisced about her when he cooked a meal for Cale, one that he knew his wife had cooked for him and his son.

Maybe he reminisced about her while sharpening his knives, remembering how well she used to do it, even better than him, maybe. Or maybe it was just in her memories.

Maybe he reminisced about her while taking care of Cale, realising how much she did for their newborn son that he just realised.

A modern AU Beacrox marries Hans to blend in and hide he's truth as an assassin but in reality he fall in love from first sight convinced himself it's just a cover for his retirement plan from he's old job to be a full time chief in a restaurant

Their first meeting Beacrox just finished a mission and was hiding as a side cook and was summoned by one of the guests as a scapegoat to get screamed at and treated badly but it get backfired badly because beacrox glare scares the shit out of the guest (Karen) so they just ask the manager to talk to instead and get him fired and when the manager comes the guest(karen) make up a story saying he treated them poorly and manger believes them because the guest is rich and all, the manager is about to fire him but of course it doesn't work because here comes the hero Hans who was a guest himself and actually recorded everything on accident when he was taking a video of the food and accidentally filmed the whole voice interaction anded up as wetness against the (karen) guest angry defending the poor cook and threatens to post everything online and all, meanwhile here's beacrox accidentally fall in love with an orange angry cat.

From there beacrox made a plan to be a friend with hans as a cover but ended up proposing two years later married him the third year the fourth year they ended up adopting 11 children they were supposed to adopt one child named lock but he had siblings so they ended up with 11 small kids

Another year later they hear a knock on the door behind it was an old man with one prosthetic arm and this man was no other than Ron holding a gifts for his grandchildren,

beacrox standing surprised to see his so called dead father who he saw dead like 8 years ago somehow in front of him very alive and in front of him so beacrox end up crying a little and all,

And maybe angry hans of why didn't you tell me your father is coming I didn't dress up bla bla bla , and hans insists on Ron to stay the night but of course Ron refuse politely,

And also maybe hans can see someone's true thoughts image power?, And was panicking the whole time and the reason he saved beacrox was because he saw the karen getting murdered two hours in advance in beacroxs mind and than the reason he became friend is actually because beacrox was telling the truth, and hans didn't mind a handsome bodyguard and than he fall in love and than the proposal and he was actually meant to say no put than he panicked and said yes because of the fear of being assassinated thing (which would never happened and beacrox would just disappear and never be seen if he gets rejected, hans just likes to imagine things) and also hans needed an excuse to say yes or else he would have said no rejecting his feelings and beacrox feelings together, and then he accepts his fate bla bla bla and all funny happy gay married couple ending.

And if your asking why was he a cook specifically because the original cook died as a result of beacroxs original murder target killing the original new cook a few days before in the crossfire between them.
