As I was sitting at a church cafe, I watched as the younger teens went inside the main hall, they all have friends, they were all laughing and having fun. And I can’t help but miss my friends. I was like that too, I was also an active youth member, I also had friends in church that I feel really comfortable with. But now, at 21 I realized how much things have changed.
Now, I’m always sitting alone in church services, too shy to enter youth services, I don’t have anyone I laugh and hang out with, I have a lot to say yet no one is here to listen, I want to ask them for prayers for certain things but no one is there. I want to spend my time with someone even for just a day, but it’s either they’re busy or we just haven’t spoken for a long time.
I know that the walk as a Christian shouldn’t be done alone, that we must have our support group to pray and correct us. And I am still trying to bring myself into this new chapter. I am still trying to figure out how to make new friends and how to build lasting relationships. And at the same time, I am trying to really be disciplined and keep my fire for God burning.
All these things are very challenging, but it is worth it.
