Its a form of defense since their neck is their weakest spot So the longer and thicker the hair on the neck is the more protected! it also takes a VERY long time for their hair to grow so its also a symbol of power and resistance since its shows they've survived long enough to have long hair! And its fashionable!

He's chill (and successful) enough to where he's in no rush to collect new souls and willing to wait out the mortals life (depending on the deal) but remember, he's still a selfish demon. He wants souls, he's just patient.

What happens to the soul after death? Is it just put somewhere and used as a source of power? Can Lazirith make someone he’s made a deal with into one of his minions, whether they’re alive or a harvested soul?

Also, long answer:

It's both! He's made contracts where he'd wait until the person dies or gives them a deadline for soul collection! It all depends on what the deal is being made for, his mood in the moment, and/or if the soul in question is valuable or intriguing (He mostly agrees with waiting for the person to die, he's pretty chill like that, Plus he's got a lot of souls already so he isn't in any rush )

When collected, souls can be used for pretty much anything (depending on the contract). They can be re-given their form and used as servants, used currency for trading amongst other demons, used as decoration, or they can be consumed as nurturance and power. (This is why you don't make soul binding deals with demons and always read the fine print, kids, lol)

I do wanna note, Minions and Servants are similar but different. Minions are reserved for fellow demons while Servants are reserved for mortals. As well as their roles are different too.

Minions are mainly used as fighting pawns, guards, and can sometimes upgrade to apprentices. They are demons after all, and posses powers and strength grater than any mortals. (though they can still have similar duties as servants)

Servants are mainly used in flaunting ones wealth, as well as general servitude duties (cleaning, cooking, etc..) or just a doll to dress up an look pretty
