I’ve had a string of losses this week that have left me stressed, disillusioned, and just plain sad, especially in conjunction with how much I’ve been working lately. But it also occurs to me that I wish someone had taken me aside the first time this happened to me (because this is far from the first time I’ve hit a low point), and told me that the feeling does pass.
So, to young attorneys experiencing their first court-administered beating:
This will get better. The feeling of everything being fruitless and frustrating does not last forever, and there ARE cases and clients coming which will feel good and valuable and right. This profession can absolutely be very draining, but it will not always feel that way. Keep moving forward.

For Walk to a Park Day, an ER Injury Attorneys Las Vegas injury lawyer shares 3 ways that you can prevent pedestrian injuries and keep your
Las Vegas is blessed with world-class parks. While they’re normally safe, accidents can happen at any time. Since walkers in parks are relatively unprotected, pedestrian accidents can lead to life-altering injuries and complex recoveries. The Las Vegas pedestrian injury lawyers at ER Injury Attorneys are deeply familiar with these accidents and are committed to promoting safety in our community. With National Walk to a Park Day approaching, there is no better time to focus on awareness and prevention. Below are three valuable safety tips to help you and your family prevent pedestrian injuries. By understanding the risks and adopting proactive strategies, you can significantly reduce your chances of being involved in a collision.
1. Maximize Your Visibility to Prevent Pedestrian Injuries
A primary factor in many pedestrian accidents is the driver’s simple failure to see the person walking in time to stop. This is especially true when visibility is poor, such as at dusk or during monsoon season. To help combat this, always make yourself as visible as possible. Wear bright, reflective clothing or accessories when walking, and carry a small flashlight or use your phone’s light in dimly lit areas.
Make a practice of making eye contact with drivers at intersections before you step into the crosswalk, ensuring they have acknowledged your presence. This is crucial not just on busy arteries like Las Vegas Boulevard, but also in quieter residential areas in Pahrump where drivers may not be expecting pedestrians. Taking these steps to be seen is one of the most effective ways to prevent pedestrian injuries and ensure a safe journey, whether you’re heading to Desert Breeze Park or Red Rock Casino.
2. Eliminate Distractions for Everyone to Prevent Pedestrian Injuries
Distracted driving is one of the fastest-growing dangers affecting both drivers and pedestrians. A driver glancing at their phone for a few seconds can travel the length of a football field without looking at the road, which can have catastrophic consequences for anyone in their path. As a pedestrian, your own inattention can be just as hazardous. Looking at your phone while walking or wearing headphones that block ambient noise inhibits your ability to react to sudden dangers.
Always keep your head up and your ears open when crossing streets. Use designated crosswalks and obey all pedestrian signals, but never assume a driver will stop just because you have the right-of-way. This heightened state of awareness is essential for navigating complex intersections during National Walk to a Park Day, such as those near Sunset Park. If you or a loved one is injured by a distracted driver, our Las Vegas car accident lawyers can determine your best legal options.
3. Choose Safe Routes and Advocate for Your Community
Where and how you walk can dramatically influence your safety. Whenever possible, plan your route to use pathways with sidewalks, well-marked crosswalks, and good lighting. Avoid jaywalking across multi-lane roads, as this dramatically increases your risk of being struck by a vehicle whose driver cannot anticipate your crossing. In areas without sidewalks, always walk facing oncoming traffic. Furthermore, our community has a role to play in creating a safer environment for everyone. Supporting local initiatives for better-lit crosswalks, longer pedestrian countdown timers, and more sidewalks in neighborhoods can help prevent pedestrian injuries on a larger scale.
As we encourage families to participate in National Walk to a Park Day, it is a timely reminder to assess the safety of the routes to our local parks in communities like Henderson and Summerlin. Community advocacy, combined with personal responsibility, creates a powerful force for change. When infrastructure failures contribute to an accident, our premises liability attorneys have the experience to investigate whether a city or property owner shares liability for the resulting harm.

Hello! It’s me the law question! Consider Myra Bradwell. In 1870 she attempted to become the first woman in the state of Illinois to practice law She attended university and passed the bar exam. However the highest court in the United States known as The Supreme Court ruled she should not be able to practice law on many grounds but one that sticks out was a woman couldn’t handle details of brutal cases. What do you think? No judgement just a friendly query.
I think that should that have been the case, the individuals who allowed her to attend university and take the exam are at fault. Or rather, they failed her. If society and the courts would not allow her to practice; if they had already policies in mind to prevent her, she should have been unable to attend schooling in the first place. It gave false hope.
However I would need to research more about her situation. Did she attend schooling under the guise of being a male student? If so, then she set herself up for that failure.
I think if she proved herself capable through examinations and schooling, she should be given an opportunity to display such things in practice. Then, should she fail it would be proof of the conjecture that she would have done so.
This all however is just my personal speculation and thoughts upon the case as you presented the details to me.
Here's one for you DM's that want a more Role Playing D&D campaign or medieval court room drama.
The players are attorneys of law that are all on the same legal team. They will go though multiple court cases. Over their time as attorneys they will have to deal with all the in's & outs of fantasy medieval law & how it has a lot more arbitrary (ie the laws is more dictated on the judges personal opinion than actual legal code, & their isn't many rules about what attorney's allowed to get away with)than the law now a day has.Â
(Recommended tutorial case [since it leaves a lot of interpretation]) Wilsver (defendant) v. the country of Arva (prosecution) : A Wizard was sent out by a kingdom to take down a dangerous ogre which was considered as an enemy of the state by the kingdom. The wizard went out, dealt with the ogre & as they were leaving they were arrested by guards. Apparently over the time it took for the wizard to find & then kill the ogre, the land that the ogre had changed hands & they are not willing to over-look this act of illegal monster hunting. Now the players got to argue who is at fault for this death (the wizard, the kingdom, or no one at all), & if someone is found guilty then what the punishment should be for this act of illegal monster hunting (IE should it be the regular 50 gold fine or if it should be less).
[Defendant favoring] Church of Helm (defendant) v the state of Fervos (prosecution): The church of helm has burnt a one Mrs Avengar for being a heretic. Under the law they have to get a permit by the local lord to be able to commit such an act, but they have neglected to do so, & as such now must face fines (which they settled out of court in a different) & the head of the church will be charged with murder to determine if the burning of a heretic had been unjust or not. This would be a very open & shut case, but the state of fervos lacks their star witness to prove that this would be murder (Ie Mrs Avengar [since she's dead]), so now the must find a way to dispute the evidence brought be the church of helm.
[Prosecution favoring] King Vermis (defendant) v the empire of Telava (prosecution): King Vermis (leader of a kingdom under the empire of Telava) has been accused of committing rebellion by not enforcing a law that the emperor has decreed. King Vermis claims that he has no obligation to enforce laws the emperor has made because the law only states that he has to implement it & not enforce it. Now King Vermis must stand his day in court, to bad for him that this court is a kangaroo court. But good news is the judge is very accepting of 'gifts' from the defendants.Â

Lawyers as a rule can at least figure out how to dress themselves. It’s actually one of the few things we do learn in law school, how to present ourselves to the court and others with the required amount of professionalism. I mean, that isn’t to say we didn’t occasionally go to class in pajama pants and a wife-beater with a Big Gulp of coffee and whiskey to carry us through the hours of Torts and…
